I would like to thank The Fan for his positive thoughts on this thread.Bashing of drivers and SS just shows how feeble minded some people can be.
Having been around SS since the beginning I have seen its up's and it's downs. The improvements over the past three years are nothing short of fantastic. With the new owner group and the management group SS has become the PREMIER track in Ontario. Many more improvements are in the works.
The track staff is always keeping the track in top shape during a race night, the ticket staff on both the front and rear gates always have a smile and a good word for you.
The Tech staff is always busy in the afternoons from the time the gates open until well after the last feature is run.
You also mentioned the Autumn Colours in Peterborough, might I suggest looking at the line up for the Velocity 250. The Open Late Model racing on Friday night promises to be a good one.
Saturday and Sunday are something not to be missed.
It is my opinion that SS is "THE PLACE TO RACE" or be in the stands watching the best racing in Ontario.
My backside will be parked in the same spot it is every Saturday night.., for the entire Velocity 250 Weekend, and I am very much looking forward to it, especially having seen the line up the night the open late model was rained out.
My curiosity in regards to the Autumn Colours is still new, having only just recently learned of it, and only just now starting to look into it. It being out of town, and 3 days, and the Peterborough Speedway site not providing alot of info, can I assume there is camping, or other lodging close by?
I thank you for your kind words, and as this fan has said before, I hope these fellas, and ladies, have lots to fight and argue about for years to come, cause the root of that frustration and anger keeps me coming back to the finest short track in Ontario every week, and keeps me.......... "The Fan!"
Great post Fan! I too attend SS each and every saturday for all the reasons you mention...and what a great LLM feature last week with the winner being one of the nicest guys in the sport whom I call a friend. Koodos to Tom for realizing sometimes you have to settle for 2nd sometimes too; ran Chris cleanly. I also wanted to point out if at all possible ya gotta hit Fall Colours. I have been going for a number of years and it really cant be beat due mostly to the sheer number of cars. There is on site camping (not sure if you have to pre-book) and there are hotels but it will be tough to get have decent ones now if at all; there is always a hockey tournament in peterborough same weekend; I actually book a year ahead. Worst case scenario head for the features on Sunday, 2- 2-1/2 hrs frm barrie; start around noon go to 10-11-12...? I LOVE sunset but fall colours is in a league by itself; lets see how the velocity weekend turns out and heres hoping it can get close to what fall colours provides
