What rule change robbed Jackson?
The counting of caution laps then going to pit and not going down any laps PLUS the # 71 spinning your car out and your car going to back and the # 71 staying in his spot; race was BS !
I've never seen a race where laps are counted & you never go down any laps while in the pits ata ny track I've been to either here OR the USA >:(
They did that in the APC300 last year, caution laps were counted but not scored
Maybe nascar should make a new rule that says where a yellow line exists there shall only be passing on the outside or they could also list the cars that are not allowed to be passed by certain other cars.
It's kinda a judgement call on that one.....and I'm still un-sure on what way I lean towards...lets just say were lucky this "yellow line" rule has not played into more finishes...this is the first I can remember.
I think Regan thought he was allowed to do that...beacuse it was last lap (imo that is a dumb rule...you race all day 1 way..you don't change it for the end) and he was saying "I thought it was better then turing into him and causing a big wreck....so does this mean if he knew he was not allowed he would have hit Tony? ....that could have made for one heck of a finished & post-race if he did.
Regan never relinquished his position back to 2nd, he continued to advance his position. while he was below the yellow line. That's the reason. If he pulled back behind Stewart and made another run and pass on the inside he would have run.
I'm not a Stewart fan but, rules are rules. As Gordon said on Wind Tunnel, you don't go below the line no matter what, even if it spins out the guy ahead of you. Specially on the last lap.
