That's what racing has come to where drivers don't have a say. Put robots in the car then.

It's true the V8 Supercars was a more enjoyable race then the cup race.

The last couple of years I haven't watched, as many cup races as I used too. You have Nascar telling drivers they can't express their true emotion's. You have team owners telling drivers who they shouldn't hook up with and manufactures are saying you should only hook up with their brand?

What next Beer Sponsors will say you can't hook up with another beer sponsored car??

Didn't F1 tell a team that they can't just can't let a guy pass because it was better for this driver to finish a head of his team mate?

People keep saying here we are only saying this because we are gordon fans. I would have said something if it happened to Tony Stewart and I'm not a Stewart fan.

Bayne should drive for HIM not for a voice in his head.  Might as well pack it in and head for Europe if your gonna listen to team orders all day.

I wouldnt care if I was him and got fired for not listening.  10 Other teams would love to have him for telling FORD and the WOODS to stick it!  It would be refreshing.  Not to mention having millions in revenue follow you everywhere you go, because all your little die casts and shirts have DAYTONA 500 CHAMPION afixed to them.  Hell Derrike cope is still making money off Earnhardts cut tire from 1990!!!

Your a Daytona 500 champion, I think you can drive for yourself.  I think all the drivers should drive for themselfs, their the ones turning the wheels.

The thing I find funny it's all over the net. People are trying to make it seem like a Gordon Whinny thing. To be honest not sure if Gordon said anything on this.

Too many people telling the drivers what they can and can't do. If this continues it will continue to go down hill.

What I'm pissed about is it's the car manufactures telling owners and teams they have to only help push cars with there brand.

Yeah but they wouldn't be the teams he could win with. I get what you're saying, but there's a reality. Good race car drivers are a dime a dozen now, and established teams aren't going to hire someone who flipped off his boss the first time around.

You're a young driver with a half a brain. You have one win that could possibly be called flukey, but are pretty sure you can back it up with another if you're with a good team. Your future is ahead of you. Now remember that your career has ALREADY had one setback with that spider bite (or whatever it was)

Now you're strapped in the car. You told Gordon you'd hook up with him, then you are reminded that you have a pseudo-teammate (Kenseth) that is in the thick of the chase and he needs help. You have a choice.

-Go with Gordon anyway, and risk pissing off a major racing superpower (Roush, who happpens to hold the keys to your career)....and then get yourself a rep as not being a team player. (hate it or not, NASCAR cup is a team game and has been for quite some time)

-Or you can risk pissing off Jeff Gordon, go with Kenseth like you're supposed to, help keep him in the chase, keep your bosses (who owe EVERYTHING to Ford) happy...then go over and apologize to Gordon afterward.

It's not brain surgery. Gordon will get over it.

I only hope for Bayne's sake that they don't hold his postrace tweets and stuff against him TOO much. If anything, he did the right thing on the track...and then STILL managed to annoy the guys in charge. That sucks for him.

Here are the tweets

@tbayne21: I'm not happy about what this has become... It's too premeditated. We should be able to go with whoever is around (us)

@tbayne21: I would have rather pulled over and finished last than tell @JeffGordonWeb I would work with him and then be strong armed into bailing

Here is reply to a pissed off fan.

@tbayne21: I agree. That's why I'm so sick about all this. I won't race restrictor plate races next year before I'm put in that situation

That is not right to put drivers in positions like that. Nascar really has to do something about this as people knew Ford was telling teams to only push ford cars.
