Yea, Like Gordon has never done that! Personally, I like what he did. It gives Gordon something else to wine about.
Charlie,   Look at the name on the quarters of the 21 car. ;D
Their job is to win races, Second is just the first looser.

TSN mentioned during a yellow, just before Gordon & Bayne teamed up, that they had discussed earlier during the weekend who would push and would be up front, it seemed they had a plan.

Then TSN said, under the same caution, that Corportate Ford, or those involved in Ford Racing,  were in the pits telling Ford teams to help other Ford cars.  Not sure how much that had to do with it, but it was a Ford that Bayne went to help.

I do agree Gordon would be upset, especially if they talked about it earlier, and given the fact Gordon helped Bayne with the biggest win of his life, but there may have been pressure from the top, assuming Ford Racing would have that much say.

This article from Jayski.com should explain it...
•Ford wants Ford drivers to draft with Fords only UPDATE?: #14-Tony Stewart [Chevy] likely will have a new drafting partner Sunday with this two-car tandem. Stewart has worked with #34-David Gilliland [Ford] in the past but didn't get to practice with him Friday. Stewart said: "I've kind of heard the Ford guys are kind of being told they have to stay with Ford guys.'' & Stewart drafted with #47-Bobby Labonte [Toyota] in the first practice and with #51-Landon Cassill [Chevy] in the second practice session.(Virginian Pilot)(10-22-2011)
UPDATE: The dictum of Ford drivers helping only other Ford drivers in Sunday's race came from Ford Racing brass and team owner Jack Roush during a meeting early in the week. In fact, Roush's loyalty to the brand is legendary. So Gilliland, who drives for Front Row, won't be on Stewart's bumper on Sunday at all. "Yeah, we aren't," Gilliland said. "It's such a tight points battle right now, and we're going to try to help the Ford guys out all we can." Apparently, Roush talked about the Ford solidarity in no uncertain terms.(Sporting News)(10-23-2011
With millions of dollars on the line, do you guys really expect anything less ? Nascar Sprint Cup racing is just WWE on ashphalt more or less . The winner is not predetermined ,but just about everything else is scripted , for the lack of a better word.  ;D  For my money, I would rather watch the Australian V8 Supercars. But, now that they are coming to race in the US ,the sponsor dollar will likely dictate as the series grows on Speed TV. So, I will enjoy them while they are still raw.

do any of you people even know for sure what went on? Or are all you people whining cause your Gordon fans? How do you know the call wasn't made above Bayne's head. Ford or the Wood brothers probably gave him the order to do so and those people are the ones who give him a car and pay him to race it. So to help Jeff Gordon or do what your team/ manufacturer asks of you? Hmmm I'd rather piss off the people who pay me to race and gave me the opportunity to even win the Daytona 500 just so I can help Jeff Gordon out for one race...you guys kill me....I'm sure Trevor did what he had to do for his career.
