I never gave up. This wasn't all about Jeff.

But you have to love the win today in Texas.

My daughter was excited and so was I. I was think Jimmy is going to catch him but not today.

I think I'd like to see NASCAR give out bonus points (5, perhaps maybe 10) for qualifying on the pole.

I just forget what race it was last year, all the guys in the top 35 went out and qualified in race trim while the guys out of the top 35 qualified in qualifying trim, one ended up on the poll, while some of the other 35+ qualified in the top 10. Of course at the start of the race, they all dropped backwards, it was a joke.

It might give the guys in the chase an incentative to actually go out and try to get the poll, especially at the tracks where your starting position isn't as important as at other tracks.

Then that would put all the teams on a more level playing field as they all would have to adjust their cars back to race trim as the race progresses.

So if you could qualify 1'st, lead a lap, lead the most laps, then that would give you 15 bonus points, which all the teams should be striving for, to get ahead in the chase.

I remember when CASCAR used to do this, and I thought it made it more exciting, I think I remember one race at Delaware, at the end of the season, where the qualifying points could have or maybe were a determining factor in clinching the championship that day.
