We will just have the see what changes NASCAR makes as I heard there will be some for the 2011 chase.
The tracks can lower the prices to attract fans but the total cost for the weekend is a lot of money.
When you look at the whole weekend of nascar racing it's well over 500.00. You can see a ton of local track events with that money.
Sure people go see a live NASCAR event if you haven't done it before but to do it every year like I have done for 10 + Years is a lot of money wasted on one race.
$500.00 - that's the biggest problem right now. The points / Chase results are the least of NASCAR's worries. But........have you seen what it costs to be 12 rows up at Air Canada Center for a Leaf's game ?? And they have 42 homes games and when was the last time the Leaf's won a Stanley Cup ? ?
And people wonder why NASCAR has priced the tickets the way they have. But if they do lower ticket prices, then the purse money paid out is going to also be reduced and that will hurt only the small teams vs. Hendricks, Roush, Yates, Penske and RCR.
Having said that, $500.00 isn't a bad price considering that gets you (in some cases) 3 races to watch - assuming you can afford travel / overnight expenses for the entire weekend. Texas Motor Speedway used to (dunno if they still do) force you to buy tickets for all NASCAR events for the entire SEASON for all three divisions! Those days are long gone in this economy AND pissed off fans - probably more so than Jimmie Johnson winning 5 in a row.
I believe California does the same which is why people are not in a rush to get out there and watch.
Is it sad that my tickets for Martinsville last spring were cheaper than any NCATS race I went to this year?
I paid $25 for each the Cup and Truck race at Martinsville, and to be honest the Cup race ended up having an awesome finish.
The worst part was the hotel, since Martinsville, Virigina isnt exactly a hot spot during non NASCAR weekends, the guy charged us a ridiculous amount to stay at a Super 8 which I was expecting anyway, but what really got us is we wanted us to pay for 3 nights even though he only had rooms left for 2 of the nights.
Yes a lot of places will not went a two night stay on Nascar Race weekends and prices get hiked. the cheapest I could find was 149.00 a night. You almost need to book a year in advance to make sure you get a room.
Wow those prices for Martinsville are crazy, spent like 80 a night for a Quality Inn about 40 minutes from the track this year. I do know Michigan is rough for pricing but they are getting better.
