Here are my thoughts. JJ won get over it. Having said that I'm not quite over it  :'( 😉 😉

If they are going to have a playoff format then make it a real playoff.

1) Only allow race winners into the chase. You would of had to qualify for all the regular season races to use this. This would eliminate any team putting everything they have into only a few races to try and qualify. It would also give a disadvantage to those that only run for top tens every week. They want to make race wins mean something then this would do it.
2) Leave the points alone but for the chase qualifiers award bonus points per race won. 20 or 30 points ought to do it.
3) Have at it boys!

See, I disagree that they need added incentives to actually win the race. Never bought into the idea that these guys are doing much points racing. Its just the way its portrayed.

Remember, because for some reason they never say it on TV, that the winner still gets the biggest piece of the pie at the pay window when the race is over, points notwithstanding. And that's a lot of money. Plus these guys are top drawer drivers....they didn't get where they are by settling for second. I don't believe it is a racer's nature and I think they have all the motivation to win that they need.

We will just have the see what changes NASCAR makes as I heard there will be some for the 2011 chase.

The tracks can lower the prices to attract fans but the total cost for the weekend is a lot of money.

When you look at the whole weekend of nascar racing it's well over 500.00. You can see a ton of local track events with that money.

Sure people go see a live NASCAR event if you haven't done it before but to do it every year like I have done for 10 + Years is a lot of money wasted on one race.

All this talk about J.J.

I think that his teammate Jeff Gordon has the answer.
Jeef Gordon has annouced that he is taking advantage of Pres. Obama's proposal to employ Harlem youngsters. The decision to hire them was brought about by a recent documentary on how unemployed youths from Harlem were able to remove a set of wheels in less than 6 seconds without proper equipment, whereas Gordon's existing crew could only do it in 8 seconds with millions of dollars worth of high tech tools. It was thought tyo be an excellent and bold move by Gordon's team as most races are won or lost in the pits.

At the new crews first practice session not only was the inexperienced crew able to change all 4 wheels in under 6 seconds, but within 12 seconds they had also changed the paint scheme, and sold the car to Kasey Kahne for 10 cases of Bud, a bag of weed, and some photos of Jeff's wife in the shower.

Now with this kind of effort, my money is on #24 for the 2011 season.

Any takers???????

My comments about the travelling to the US for a race were based on the amount of time you get to spend at the track doing things for the value of money you are spending.  In Canada for a NASCAR event you spend on average 40/ticket and could spend what 8 hours at the track in total with little to do but watch the cars for practice, qualifying and racing itself.  However for example I went to Martinsville in October spent $25.00 US got to the track at 9am and left at 6pm.  What did I see I watched Truck and Sprint cup qualifying and about 4 hours of practice time between the 2 series plus spent a couple hours touring through the haulers for various event merchandise.  I could have spent another 5 hours going through haulers and vendors but did that the next day.lol  So for me it was more cost effective to do that.

Do I think they should add more teams to the chase? Nope too many now.  I liked it when there was 10 actually.  And as for only 3 cars in the chase this year that took place after 7 events really cause after each race prior to that in the chase 1 or 2 cars would eliminate themselves by poor finishes.  So why eliminate them in a forced fashion they already do it themselves without there being rules on how it should take place.  And PLEASE do not allow fan votes on how makes it week to week.  We all know who would win no matter where he finishes and really how is that a true champion?

Unfortunately with NASCAR you can't have a similar playoff format like other major sporting events.  Because all 43 teams compete on the track at the same time, all other sports have 1 on 1 battles.  I do like the idea DW was discussing the other day on Sirius (go figure I liked it.lol) where he was saying they should allow teams like what Jamie did work their way back in to the top 10  instead of locking them in the best possible of 13th spot.
