Fine but Gustafson, Bush made the chase, Mears is 25th!!

Your points a valid if Mears was say 15th or above...

going back a bit, but Mears was around shortly after the Ganassi's 40 car was in the lead for the cup with Marlin driving. McMurry could even win races in Ganassi equipment. Best gear out there, no, but top 15 equpiment. Mears was back in 40th or so...

Based on the announcement from the VP at Dodge today on Sirius there will be no move from Dodge to Toyota for GEM or any other team.  They confirmed their full support for the Sprint Cup and Nationwide series, including mentioning they have long term contracts for support with Penske, GEM and Ganassi.  In regards to Patrick being in the 4th car with the potential acquisition of Robbie Gordon's team and the rumour of GEM buying BDR that would put them over the 4 car team limit.  Also isn't BDR losing Caterpillar at the end of the season so the only benefit for GEM to buy BDR would be if Blaney keeps the car in the top 35.  Which as we know is a huge issue but would it mean Patrick will still get in that ride?

I think the best way to compare Patrick's performance is to look at his results with those of Aj Almindinger's performance for the same period of races.  Look at how long it has taken Aj to finally start showing decent results, basically 60 races.  Patrick has shown improving results in less than that time as he's had 2 top 25 results in the past 3 races.  Sure would be nice to see a sponsor step up and lock him in for next season, then lets see how his results are.

ross, I was actually thinking of the factory sponsorship ie: Motorcraft which is always on the 21 whether as primary sponsor or associate. But, I do agree that I didn't make that point more clear. Dodge doesn't sponsor any team directly anymore under the Mopar banner like  they did when Evernham first reintroduced the brand into Sprint car competition. So, as far as Carp goes getting into the 21, he might have a better chance at a funded ride versus the GEM 4 th car which has no sponsor as of yet.  ;D

Just heard Patrick on Sirius and he has confirmed that there is no guaranteed ride next year for him with GEM.  It doesn't mean it won't happen but due to the sponsorship issue, they can't guarantee him a ride.  He mentioned that there were already a couple of teams interested in him driving for them and is also looking at rides in the Nationwide Series.  Sure hope someone signs him to a cup ride as Moody said he always has a smile on his face and just doesn't understand why Corporate Canada or Corporate America hasn't picked him up.
