i think you guys are getting way off topic here, starting new classes etc... this topic was why peterborough speedway didn't have any cars at the chase for the colors race. i believe it comes down to lack of effort promoting the race. do you not know about the delaware race with kyle & kurt busch coming up or any of the shootout races at sunset or the invitationals at varney ? money is the biggest factor i'll agree, but a simple note on the boards or even updating your website on time with pics and dates coming up, are easy marketing tools why aren't they using them ? mosport is bad for that also .
I'm curious, what would your response be if the Patch had made sure the payouts were listed on every news group, advertised in every magazine, newspaper known in the northeastern region and only 7 LLM showed up still...what your answer be then?
Delaware's special event costs a lot of money - there's no guarantee that it will make money (rain, unforeseen conflicts) that could also sink that event and lose the promoter a tonne of $$ in the process. As I mentioned earlier, Peterborough has advertised and promoted and as others have stated, the payouts were on their site. It's a well known event.
Like Chris has pointed out (as have others in other sections and forums), racing is NOT cheap and the stronger, well financed teams are now advancing at a faster pace then the majority of underfunded teams - with many of the latter willing to run a few races but not all of them. In my opinion, of all the tracks that older generation cars CAN run - it's Peterborough....
just hought I would try and offer some kind of solution rather han just whine...never claimed it was the right one and I do welcome other solutions to be brought forward ..........again my point was IMO there were no cars because they are parked waiting for endless upgrades to be able to be a top three ride kinda hard to get much help if car just runs around at back...where is the fun in knowing you can not be competative.......you can be the best driver in the world and finnish in the back if your ride just isint up to it...just as average talent can win a race walking away even if the car has a slight problem with it if if it is that much more car than everyone else has.............it all comes down to fair and enforced rules......just because a car makes it through tech doesnt mean it is legal but that is an education problem with promoters and thier tech mabee if people take the rule books from other tracks with them to next years rule meetings rules can be made closer but this does not address expence and that is why I offer the solution of a simple yet fast competitive class be formed with one set of rules for Ontario....guys will travell if they think they can have a chance at winnin a race.............oh and by the way so everyone knows ...Oct 7-9 is colours this year make sure you tell everyone you know so there are no complaints that no one heard about the Invitational...after all isnt word of mouth the best way to advertise

The problem is the racer's only option is to whine as they see their budgets quickly eroded by the totally unnecessary rule changes that occur yearly. Example: Why allow a quick change rear end for 2011 in a LLM division when every car at the track has a Ford 9" floater already installed and paid for? Oh, and by the way, I don't want anyone to say its cheaper to buy gear sets for it unless someone is supplying quick changes for everyone at no cost. Before every rule is implemented, a cost analysis should be done to see what the added cost will be to every racer. The higher each track drives up the cost of the race car, the fewer race cars are available to race. I've probably said much more than I care to.
just thought I would try and offer some kind of solution rather than just whine...

I think were kinda sayin the same thing arnt we???..........I believe adding the quick change was wrong but I also believe there is no real need to switch to one just cause the rule was put in for the few guys that had one sitin around and wanted to use it ......kinda why I think a new and very regulated class needs to start up I think there are enough guys sitin at home to start such a class with back markers not far from joining and let the guys bent on upgrading cars every year play with their selves in the not so limited LLM class....would an old Allstar car be a LLM or a good Thunder now a days......the only way to limit costs is to limit rules and lock those rules in for 5 years at a time.......just one persons opinion here and would love to here about other ways to get good car counts at all tracks..........what is the reason there are a lot of 4 bangers around could it be the cost there used to be lots of Thunders every where too are they fading because of cost ??? there used to be lots of Challengers every where did they die cause of cost ??? used to be every track had lots of latemodels too where guys with a bit of cash could play with each other.......I think most rule changes over the years were made to accommodate very few racers when fact is they showed up with rule breaking and or rule pushing cars blow away every one then pass tech when in the best interest interest of racing meaning their fellow competitors should have been told to load it and leave it at home or run it in the next class up where it has no problem passing any tech issues...........now that bein said everyone likes too push the rules its just that some can push harder and I am afraid that may never change
totally agree, no one is making us change to a quick change. in my opinion, most of the time most rule changes that end up costing the low dollar guys is brought about by the teams with more money. there is always the excuse that it is to hard to find parts, or it is for safer racing or we can go faster and give a better show to the fans. problem with that is, there are more low dollar teams or back markers like myself who like to race but cost is getting out of hand , so no car counts and then no fans. other than sunset and sauble, no other tracks are getting a good llm car count. i think the problem with local racing falls on promoters, drivers, car owners, officials. none of us work together, it is always what we want, or what track wants and while we are all trying to get what we want, racing is going down the tubes. bottom line is, there are more of us low dollar back marker drivers out there than there are big buck teams and if tracks are going to cater to them, then i guess we will see more tracks running 7 cars than there are now.
