Great Idea about having a learning / teaching night but I think a possible problem with that is there are a 1000 different setups out there and everyone wants to keep theirs to theirself ....I would go to such a night hey why not can allways learn something new..........I have another theory as to why car counts are low....it just costs to much to keep up therefore the fun goes out of it it is rare nowadays to do everything in house and say you are a fast car in any division say thunder car and up without spending allot of cash it can still be done but do-in your homework takes many hrs more than it did say 10 or 15 years ago so what it comes down to is can we afford to have fun meaning at least an outside shot at a top three.....there is a way to do it but it would mean allot of people getting on the same page and many have try ed to facilitate that with little or no success.......it would all fall into rules why not start a new class.....yes I know more money for parts but with this new class the rules will only change because a part becomes obsolete so that would be a rare change it would also require promoters to quickly adapt LOL ya I know try ed before too......make a class somewhere between a thunder and a LLM chassie wise and a race body like we are all used too keep the chaise simple with a few adjustments like panhard bar solid on axle but adjustable on body side 4 load bolts adjustable sway bar put everyone one one tire I would pick the towel city recap cause they are cheaper tire and last quite a long time and are slower than a slick........now once we have that put everyone one the same spring (rate and manufacturer) say that of a conventional set up aspring rater would be simple tech same deal with shocks say a cheap rebuildable so they could be teched for proper valving and a sealed create with no rebuild allowed and an exchange program that is actually used at a set interville say after a win or the second win flip a coin winning driver calls if they lose motor comes out complete and yes carb and all including headers but leaving exhaust plugs and wires cap and rotor and goes to a finishing position with the roll of a die..... and if the winning driver refuses pay him for his win and say see ya next year...that would keep people from buyin anything other than off the shelf parts.....notice I said die and not dice there fore the wore out stuff should not be in the mix for exchange...... after that have a what u brung class for the guys who need to spend more cash..................just a dream I know it would never happen but the Idea would be to have a class that is going slow enough to have side by side racing and let the drivers figure out who will win not the chassie builders and part suppliers...... again I know this would not happen so no need for anyone to tell me this is a dumb Idea
Actually,it does make a lot of sense to some of us here, good points in your post justracin cause the word is getting around somethings gotta give in T.C. class
There was a time when I thought I had the knowledge, skill and ability to make a difference for the racers but I now realize I was just pissing into the wind. In spite of all the "wonderful" changes that are an ongoing process, the car counts keep getting smaller and smaller all the time. Now I mainly read the message boards, go to the track on the weekend, shake my head at what's happening, lose interest in racing, and keep my mouth shut. I guess you could say I've done what many people have done lately and just given up.
i think you guys are getting way off topic here, starting new classes etc... this topic was why peterborough speedway didn't have any cars at the chase for the colors race. i believe it comes down to lack of effort promoting the race. do you not know about the delaware race with kyle & kurt busch coming up or any of the shootout races at sunset or the invitationals at varney ? money is the biggest factor i'll agree, but a simple note on the boards or even updating your website on time with pics and dates coming up, are easy marketing tools why aren't they using them ? mosport is bad for that also .
Promotion had NOTHING to do with it. I am sure every driver who wants to travel does make the effort to see where he can travel to race. Computers aren't that rare nowadays. It is not like this was the first year for this event. It's the 3rd so drivers do know about it. In case some of you haven't noticed car counts are down everywhere. That tells me that alot of racers are lacking funds these days. Not a big surprise. I am sure that that, the cost of fuel and the the fact that there were other specials on the long weekend had more to do with the lack of cars. The races are promoted, albeit locally but I haven't heard any Sunset Speedway advertisements in Peterborough either. ::)
