yes i understand that a tank is not necessarily safe. But all the welds are complete. i have a front and rear hoop both tied into the cage as most 4 cylinder front hoops are tied to the strut towers causing major damage on impact. i have all a safe car! I feel safe and i have more bars in my car then minimum. I know there is still the possibility of getting hurt, but with a properly built car with nothing Mickey Moused on it potential danger is much less! The only reason I hurt myself in the big wreck was cause i got some major whiplash and pulled some neck and shoulder muscles. Had I have been wearing a neck restraint or brace like I wear now I would not have been injured!

i just wear one of those donut like things that stabilizes your head if in a collision! that way i won't get whip lash! it works great and is fairly cheap! I would prefer something better but I am borrowing it from Thunder6 and don't have the money for something else. I would like my dad to get a good head and neck restraint for next year cause he is brittle and i don't want him getting hurt because he is always in pain as it is from his back and legs. But my dad should be a contender next year that's for sure! He might go to fall colours....but i'll have to stay behind as my better half and I are going for thanksgiving dinner.

Something i would like to point out is that having a car that is built like a tank or is able to be raced again after a big wreck is not the measure of a safe car . To those of you that saw the wreck that killed Dale Earnhardt the car showed very little damage considering the impact it took . NASCAR realized that the cars had become so rigid and virtually had no crush zones that the impact was directly transfered to the driver, hence the COT was born . Sometimes the car that is junk after a big crash is the safer car .

I think that with or without "crush zones," I would rather crash into the wall at 35-40mph in Kahnefreaks car, than at 210mph in a C.O.T. at the speeds that pure stocks go, you dont need the crush zones that you need in other types of racing, if a well built "tank"  absorbs just a bit of the impact, it is safe. I just think Joe Chance likes to stir the pot. If he wants to spend his week rebuilding bent racecars, thats his buisness!

I agree Silverstone! it would be interesting to see how fast my car does going into turn 3 as i don't have a spedometer! i think i'd hit about 105 km or so! i think some of the "A" division cars are hitting 110. but still at those speeds a concrete walla can hurt!
