Thanks jcrashm2 - really sorry to hear this.
Here's a shot where he went to great lengths to thank Dave for the
loan of his car...

This is sad news. Saturday was the first time i got to talk to Abel in person. I'm at a lost for words.
Words, however kind,
can't mend your heartache:
but those who care and
share your loss wish you
comfort and peace of mind.
May you find strength
in the love of family
and in the warm embrace
of friends.
I wish his Family and friend my deepest condolences.
i tried to dig around for a shot i hoped i had made of Abel working
on his old Mini this year (the one he wrecked) at Merrittville. I realized that
while i was shooting him, i had only shot pics of his car, while all the
time paying attention to him talking to me, and joking around
with him. I didnt shoot him. I feel bad about this now...
RIP Abel.
I am extremely saddened by this news. I met Able for the first time on Saturday at the Open Ontario event. He was very friendly and kind and left a lasting positive impression that I carried away with me from the tech line. He spoke very highly of Dave Bailey for loaning him the car and remarked at its great win record and was looking forward to the day with a big smile and firm handshake. He also jokingly remarked that he would have loved to have purchased that strong running car.
I didn't know the man well and had only met him once, but he did leave a positive impression. Even though our meeting was brief, based on that impression, I am certain he will be missed throughout the circuit. I am glad he had one last chance to race at the event.
Along with my personal condolences, Delaware Speedway’s staff, competitors, and fans join with the racing community in mourning his passing.
