NASCAR really needs to look into having double catch fences.

Yes I think the high needs to be increased and a second catch fence will do the trick.

I figure you can no longer have people sitting 10 feet from the wall at super speedways. It's amazing there weren't more hot fluid injuries from the engine that made it thru the gate. On Race NY, one poster mentioned that one person that was hurt was a spectator (lady?) who rushed up to the fence with her digital camera to get a shot of the finish. And of course, now the ambulance chaser lawyers are involved.
I think it means we have to look much more closely at our local facilities and racers have every right to see the track's insurance policy in case they have to supplement it with their own.
Some local tracks I go to have no top kick in of the fence to keep high flying tires out of the grandstand. It gives me the creeps when I think I was at Merrittville years ago when a young spectator was killed by a car part that entered the stands. And why were the folks at Flamboro ringing the fence again one week after a lm climbed the wall and went into the pits. Really makes you wonder how well the insurance carrier evaluates the facilities . (or is there any insurance at all?)
