Thorold, Ontario (June 22) - While the Management of Merrittville Speedway is preparing for the return of the Big Block Modified Super DIRTcar Series event on Monday August 2nd, so are the family members of fallen track official Bob St. Amand Sr.  The family would like to thank everyone for all the support shown thus far and for all of the positive feedback.

"The support has been incredible and really shows our family how much of a respected and well-liked man ‘SR’ really was," stated grand daughter Brooke St. Amand.

As many of you may know, the Big Block Modified 100 lap Event will be rededicated to honour our former racer, point champion, official Wall of Famer and friend of racing - Bob St. Amand Sr.  As such, the family wants to make this event into one that will honour Bob annually.

Six Laps are all that is left for Sponsorship for the 100 lap Main Event!

With 94 Laps purchased - there is over $3000 so far toward lap bonuses. Once the Big Block 100 is sold out -  laps will be available for the event’s support divisions as well in the Hoosier Stock Duel on the Dirt Big Six and Modified Lite Championship Tour Events.

Grand daughter Amanda Curvin told us, “although the focus of the night is the Modifieds … the other divisions were Papa's drivers too, and we hope to be able to provide them with bonus money as well."

Brooke and Amanda and the family are looking to add to the Bonus Packages for the local Merrittville 358 Modified drivers that compete in the L. St. Amand Enterprises-sponsored division weekly. “Rewarding the local 358 drivers is a priority,” prided Bob’s son Bob St. Amand Jr., “that class was SR's first love in racing.”

Gold, Silver or Bronze levels are still available allowing any friend of the sport to promote their business … encourage a favorite driver or the entire starting field.

“Very soon our Bob Sr T Shirts will be available,” shared daughter Colleen Curvin, “we are very thrilled about the vintage look of the shirts … we can’t wait to share them with race fans and teams!”

Individuals wishing to sponsor a lap or to learn more about other levels - please contact Amanda Rouse at 905-641-3175, Brooke St. Amand at 905-650-7989 or via email at papasrace30@hotmail.com.

For those that have already supported the event – the family is beginning to collect the generous donations. To make yours - you can find us in SUITE 6 every Saturday Night or at the PIT BOARD at the beginning of the race night!

Again we would like to thank everyone for their generous contributions our "PAPA" would be proud and honored!

The inaugural Bob St. Amand Sr. Memorial 100 Big Block Modified Super DIRTcar Series Event Monday August 2nd is an event that Merrittville Speedway has hosted since 1972 – the year ‘Sr.’ won his Modified Points Championship.  Since that first event – the stars of DIRTcar Modified racing have challenged Merrittville’s talented field of hometown heroes in the Canadian Civic Holiday Classic.

A Kids Bike Giveaway will also take place in addition to the famous pre-race Pasta Dinner hosted by Club Castropignano.
