it`s sat. night and you have nothing going on, I encourage you to take a trip to grand bend speedway! I have been going to race tracks for 34 yrs and have been a driver,a crew and mostly a fan. this place puts on one heck of a show!! and the best part, alot of the drivers are under 16 yrs of age!! this is the future of ontario racing! my son is 7 yrs old and started racing this year, and is having the time of his life, and I`m having a ton of fun also as well as meeting some of the nicest people you will ever meet! I had a chance to watch some of the other divisions features this week, and let me tell you, they had more side by side, lead changes in that 9hp sprint race then most tracks will have all season! whether it be the 6.5 jr 'b' class, the jr 'a' class, the 9hp mods, the jr late models, the mini trucks or the 440`s I would almost guarantee you won`t see any better racing anywhere! also did I mention, it only costs $10.00 to get in for an adult on a regular night, and you get to walk around the pits and talk to these drivers and crews as well as watch those crazy people that want to jump out of perfectly good airplanes at the skydiving club as you listen to the drag cars in the background at the dragstrip! I hope you will take the time to stop by and see the next jr.hanley, earl ross and jack monaghan in the making!! you will have a great time!!!! while you are there give out a cheer for my little guy #98 in the 'b' micro sprints, he will be the kid that hardly sees over the steering wheel, but is always giving 110% and always has a smile from ear to ear!! IT DOESN`T GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS!!!!
I have to agree with everything said here.
We are in our second year with GBS and to be brutally honest we're having a blast. The people are great, the racing is excellent, everyone is helpful. Grand Bend Speedway definately offers a much more relaxed racing atmosphere with as good or better racing action than the full size cars.
I think this is a sign that all the parents and racers are here to have fun and to learn. Were all competitive too but we keep it in check. I think this approach will keep our young racers level headed and mature when they become older and compete at higher levels.
As a racing dad I am very happy to be involved with Grand Bend Speedway and look forward to being here for a number of years.

Been part of the Grand Bend scene for 7 years. Its the kids' first approach that makes this place special. We looked at Oshweken, Fisher Farms and Deleware before deciding upon GBS. Good competitive racing followed up by the top 3 getting interviewed on the track in victory lane. Where else can a 7 or 8 year old get this type of experience.
Have a break down or an accident and an army of volunteers will descend upon your pit to help you out. Our first year my son went head on into the guardrail in a heat race. His mother and I were more concerned about him and stayed with him at the ambulance. The crowd around our pit when I returned was huge. Yes, lots of gawkers, but there in the middle of it all were 4 or 5 other dads from various divisions straigthening and fixing our kart, people running back and forth from their trailers for parts for us. My son made it back out for his feature and finished 4th. The cheers for him from the other teams and the spectators was amazing. This made a lasting impression that stays with me to this day. I help others whenever I can.
We would really like the word to get out about how special this place is. As rightrear and rob james have said... its the place to be.
Another racingdad.
While in the pits on the long weekend (Aug 3rd) a gentleman & his 2 sons approached us - 1st time he had been to the track & he was amazed. Said he went to Delaware Friday night, the strip Saturday, & GBS blew them him away on the Sunday. Maybe next year some increased exposure will help out the head counts as a lot of people don't know much about the track.

I have to agree with Roxy on this.
The one area that really needs to be focused on next year shold be in town promotion within Grand Bend City limits.
I think some of us racers from all divisions could do some exhibiting of our cars at the beach Friday and Saturdays before the events, handig out brochures/schedules and so on. We could discuss this pre-season and have a schedule set so we knew when it was our turn.
We could even inves in some "hero cards" to hand out,I know a woman who does these at a very affordable price.
One thing that someone should help arrange is a bus that goes to all the camping grounds to pick up and drop off spectators to the races like they do at Sauble Speedway.
I am sure some other ideas will come up, plase share them.

ran there twice last year with my thunder car and it is a clean facility.....the track is a little small for the thunder but for the small cars its perfect>>plan on going again in the fall and the one thing i can say about brad>>>he pays u cash that night and it makes your trip worthwhile....
