Morgan Shepherd! Lets get the record straight. He has not outrun DJ this season...look at the points. Look at the last 6-7 races as well. If Im not mistaken the only time he finished infront of DJ was at Talladega but Im sure you didnt watch it but rather looked at the finish and just assumed your conclusion of how that happened.
As far as Morgan goes, perhaps you should know the facts before bashing Kennington. Since Mexico, Morgan has raced with a Kevin Harvick chassis and engines, Gibbs pit crews plus Tony Stewart and Dale Jarrett are giving him sticker tires to run the entire race on. Heck for the amount of laps he has and the equipment hes using he should be knocking the snott of the DJ and the 81 but he isnt.
DJ is running great on little setup info and 1 set of stickers out of the 4 sets every other team has up and down pit road at race time. Why is that? Because its hard to get support for a driver when so called racefans make dumb comments like you just made.
Not sure if you fully understand that DJ has went to a track for the first time in 10 of the 13 races this year. He is not used to large drafts and what it can do to the handling but he has cut the learning curve in 1/2 the time compared to the likes of these open wheel heros like Hornish and Villeneuve. There will be a day very very soon that he will finish in the top 10, 5 and a win but that is not all on him, its the team. Underfunded and not the best stuff to race with. Do me a favor Tammy, when that happens, go buy a Morgan Shepherd fan club membership
DJ effort great(even more so that he is Canadian), Morgan help from the present stars is also great it is a homage to the past why should the two be at odds?
Lets see--what has DJ accomplished so far in the Nationwide series?? Not top of the line equipment, pieced together pit crew(they do try there hardest),some tracks he has never raced on(no notes),limited budget. OK--top 21 in driver points, top 30 in owners points, over 300k in race winnings=acknowledgement & respect from fellow racers, owners & most of all his friends & family!! He is DOING the dream. He is doing more than alot of couch critics who can only rip him apart thinking he should be coming in the top 3 every week. DJ and his team knew right from the start that this probably would not be the case. Sure, given time & a few million dollars--you damn right he could race with the big dogs,he has the TALENT. Besides lets say he pulled off the Talladega win people out there probably would have said he was lucky or something along that line. DJ is walkin' the walk not talkin' the talk. Sorry, I guess I am talking like he is done racing(he still has alot of miles left in him)his most important commitment is to his father ,himself & Castrol--this year he will raise the NCATS championship cup high in the air at Kawartha--he is do & DJK RACING deserves it. He will still be racing in the nationwide(probably miss 8 races)but I know drivers down there will respect him for the decision he has made. In short,to all you people out there that have negative comments about how DJ is doing or what you THINK he should be doing you know nothing about the racing business world and nothing about DJ as a person not a racer. Most racers bring there helmet to the track...holy crap that driver just totalled his car in practise--backup car---he just smashed another in qualifying---backup car---he just smashed another in the race--hop on his jet get a good nights sleep for the CUP race tomorrow.....Dj has three cars to last & baby as much as possible for the whole season. Well, I guess thats about it for me--I am a DJK fan(#1 at that) See ya at the track--or are you negative people the ones that don't go to watch & think you have the right to pass judgement on things you know nothing about---RACEFREAK
DJ's made all the races, while Morgan's missed Daytona and Mexico City. Out of the races they've ran together, Morgan finished ahead of Kennington only at Darlington and Talladega. That being said, Morgan S+P'd all of the races he's made but 3.
Hmm.....Someone who works for DJ's team or another incarnation of SpeedwaySue? I know who I'd listen to.
