Nothing against you guys, but please give your heads a shake. This is big time TV here...you are doing sports news...everything ahs to be current, up to date....if there is one thing i have learned in class (i am a journalism major) northing your programming or television sponsorships should cloud your judgement when it comes to reporting the news....i understand this is a race message board, with pure race fans, but even you ahve to a gre that The Toronto Blue Jays, and major league sports THE PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP are far more important than a thrid rate travelling series....i mean to not offend anyone, but its not like it the Busch or cup series here...

If your going to school to cover sports then you better turn to page 1.
You cover whatever the fans will follow.
You cover the events that the sponsors pay for.
You cover the sport that is business related... the big 3 for one.
And, when you are hired to cover a sport that needs media, ( Nascar Canada ) you do your very best at promoting it, covering it, and keeping it in the news.

If you didnt read that part mayby you are reading the wrong book- Home Economics doesnt cut it !!

Im dont mean to bash your statement, but as you said- this is a racing site !!

It will be interesting to see if TSN follows through with converting some of its "this is my sportscenter" commercials with NCTS drivers.  At the Mosport race they took Andrew Ranger over to corner 3 and taped a segment with him doing his "this is my sportscenter" comments.  Somehow I doubt it will ever change as TSN truly has shown no care to race fans, unlike the coverage we were seeing on Sportsnet.  Like I said in a previous post their sister channel RDS seems to be doing a better job then them about covering the NCTS series.

I cover more then they do.

I'm so pissed as I was already t watch a great race as I love the glen the best race to watch on TV and then these bozo's run highlights of the race 8 minutes before they are going to air it. It was in the ticker and they showed highlights.

Also Access Canada is just as stuff relates to Nascar's doing in Canada. We have to remember this I know everyone thought it was going to be for the series but it was never intended for this.

Nascar wanted into the Canadian Market place and who better to go to TSN. It is about getting dollars out of Canada and hey all the best as this is what businesses do make money.

I have pointed it out before how much can you grow a series that has 12 races in a season? It would be great if this would take some of our Canadian Drivers and put them in the big leagues.

Is there anyone that can provide stats if the Attendace has went up since Nascar has taken over and don't count the Cayuga Race as I want to see the numbers to see compared to last year. If we counted the Cayuga race it would be like counting the Nascar/Cascar Shootout numbers.

Here are somethings that may help bring more people to the races.

Tracks promote in the Major News Papers, Radio Ads, Highlights on TSN.

Remember back in 1999 I never knew CASCAR existed until the first INDY race adverts months before the race.

Now are the tracks willing to invest in this type of coverage to get people to the races??? Most likely not.

I got emails from the Montreal track to buy tickets at least 4 or 5 of them I even got a post card in the mail telling me about the Busch race in Montreal.

You have to remember we are not like the states as they go from Feb to Nov 10 months of racing compared to our 5 months.

The only way for for motorsports in Canada to become huge is to have US/Canada Series. so the season can start earlier and end later.

Just some thoughts here. Am I right or wrong???

Well from the 2 events that I've been to besides Cayuga this year I would say that the attendance has been much higher but obviously only Barrie and Mosport officials can confirm if the numbers are up this year compared to last.  The reason I say the numbers are definitely up is that to get decent seats up high in the stands you are now having to show up just as the gates are opening.  At Barrie we stood in line for about 1 hour to make sure we got good seats.  As for Mosport we got there at 1:20pm and people were being let in early and there was already about 30 cars in the lot with fans coming in and not just family members of race teams.
