mid just a thought, not defending tsn but prior to the 1979 daytona race was not the coverage in the states like it is now in canada. tape delay and only highlights. i remember watching abc wide world of sports for a glimpse of racing. maybe the sport in canada has not progressed past this point yet.just a thought from out in right Field.

On Bell Expressvu the race was live on the alternate feed ( channel 402 ). A friend of mines father drives truck down in the states from time to time, he always brings home newspapers from the states & there is always write ups on the different racing scenes. Even the USA today had NASCAR as there front page on the sports section, that would be like The Globe and Mail running a story about NASCAR, not gonna happen. The Toronto Sun has stepped up there coverage but it still doesn't cover any local racing.

you're right about the Toronto Sun. Dean McNulty used to cover Mosport/Kawartha when he first started with the paper, but now seems to have gravatated towards the major circuits instead. A really good paper is the St. Catharines Standard-their Saturday editon is excellent re local coverage and the emphasis is on the three local short tracks. The Hamilton Spectator has a column by Tim Miller but it sometimes appears on Thursdays, sometimes on Fridays, sometimes not at all. At least they moved it out of the "Auto section" which no one reads unless they're in the market for a car, into the sports section.
I wonder if it's a scratch my back, I'll scratch yours propostion meaning coverage is dictated by how much advertising is done in the respective newspapers
