P.S. Rightrear- We were close on a deal for this years Indy but ran out of time. I am working on 2008 for the Indy 500, and maybey the whole season in the IRL. I will keep you posted and if it happens you know where you will be without a doubt.
One more thing I want to point out to you people. When you go to Indy it is by far the glamor race everyone thinks it is. Its 16 hour days- 7 days a week for the month of May. I remember one time we had started at 4:00AM, the day before qualifying and at 7:PM I sent everyone back to the hotel to get some rest, but we still had allot to do to the car, so I decided I would stay and work right through the night.
Although Rick was as tired as me he insisted that he stay and work along side me. When the Team showed up in the morning, we had everything done and I know if Rick wouldn't have stayed we would have never made it. That my friends is DEDICATION at its best.
I know where I will be....Back Home Again in Indiana.......I remember that night well...we were the only 2 left standing, besides Curry and Stewart. They say the old Lady talks to you at night if you listen real close.....or was that all the brake clean?? That place owes us, pal......
Brake Clean- Now thats one drug no one has ever thought of... Clean a car and the floor- cheap buzz !!
Hey why dont you find some super star that wants to try the NASCAR CTS and get up here and change some damn tires. I talked to Tony and he said that if Gommer was not good for next years singing of Back Home in Indiana that you could do it !!
I will give you a call when I get caught up.
Hey Midamerica I heard a rumour that Shawn Mcglynn might be driving one of your cars, any truth to that?
Scroad49 - Rumors or fact ??
Shawn and I would love to run together, but the lack of sponsorship holds up the deal at this time.
We were working on doing something but it was based on a Sponsorship that wanted Shawn in the car and me as the Owner / Crew Chief, which to date is still on the table.
I think Shawn McGlynn has allot of talent and would be an asset to the NASCAR CTS deal as he brings a great attitude to the table, as well as remarkable driving talents that I think would give him a win in the NASCAR CTS in his first year.
Its a shame- and a fact- that so many drivers never get the chance to prove themselves because of the cost of running cars out of pocket, and the lack of sponsorship potentials. That is the reason that most teams in the CTS series believed that NASCAR taking over was going to be a good thing for Canada, which to date has not made any impression on any sponsors or potentials down the road.
Under paid purses and higher costs to operate are the only thing's that we all have felt, and if the direction and operations do not change quickly this series could be in great trouble, which as a car owner is the last thing that I need to see happen, but numbers are numbers, and facts don't lie.
In order to see NEW drivers in this series the total atmosphere of NASCAR Racing in Canada needs to change starting with the grass routes of this program. Long before the boy's from the south came north of the border, we were racing comfortably in the CASCAR series. We had races that were sold out, and we had races that were classified as non spectator races, but we all knew we could still race on the purses, the sponsorships, and the tracks backing, as well we had a pretty good TV package to boot.
What has changed in the series will slowly be seen in the car counts unless something is done to fix the new problems, the low purses, the lack of sponsorships and the tracks that are willing to pay for a good show.
I am not bashing NASCAR Canada but I am saying that the importance of success for any series comes down to remembering one key componet... We are the race teams, we are the Actors, and I don't care who you are, I don't care if you think you are the best Director.... without the Actors your show will socseed unless you take care of the Actor's, and that is what NASCAR is trying to overcome in their first season here in Canada.
Until things like this are corrected, you may never see a guy like Shawn McGlynn ever get a chance and I for one think that is a negative deal, as well as a real downer for race fans and teams, but keep your fingers crossed, as we all are doing the same.
