Running Tech Lane can be the most unrewarding job in racing. Drivers don't trust you. Teams are ready to argue over anything you find in the car, and the Racing Series itself puts demands on you that your own Mother would slap you out for.
Last week Dave Brown, one of the very best, easiest going, willing to work with you Officials was let go as the Tech Director of NASCAR. Dave did his job, and kept everyone on the same playing field which set him apart from most Tech Officials. Browny cut his teeth with CASCAR and was given the position with NASCAR because he did it so well and now they have let him go.
NASCAR has made some controversial moves since coming to Canada and have made a lot of racers unhappy with there decisions, a learning curve that they are trying to overcome and that is understandable, but why did they turn on themselves by getting rid of one of the only people in Tech that knew the game??
Sorry to see Dave go, and he will be missed, but I am sure he will return to Tech another day in another series and we hope to see him soon.

sound like a preemptive strike for a ton of rule changes for next year

Sounds like they let him go to replace him with a more experienced and more respected man.  Tim Ellas was announced as his replacement in the drivers meeting on Saturday.

From what I heard Dave had some short comings.  Did not know the answers to all the questions when asked.

from what i understand it came down to the fact that nascar wanted a certain protocol followed aand it was not. if they sign your chech and they what things done a certain way then you better do them that way.
