The NASCAR CTS meeting went very well as NASCAR made its first appearance good for all.
The Pros and Cons are as follows...

Pro's: New tire rule as far as how many tires you get per event is limited to 10 and the tires can only be picked up at the race track on the race event days. The cars don't need a whole bunch of changes as first believed, which is great for everones operating costs. Safety issues were the biggest talk of the day and the changes requested by NASCAR are all GOOD and makes the car safer for the Driver. The schedule was announced which is pretty much what everyone expected with the only TBA being the Montreal race. The payouts, although no numbers were announced, was backed up by NASCAR's annoucment that the purse money will be going UP by 30% to 60% based on the event. The awards program for the support sponsors is also increased and the Championship points awards will also increase by at least 30%. As well- the Champion will be invited to New York to be put on stage with the other NASCAR Champions- PLUS- the Champion will also be invited to compete in the Toyota Shootout.. in both cases this is a first for Canadian Racers and our hats are off to NASCAR for this bonus deal.
The races will end under Green/White/Checker and the LUCKY DOG RULE is 100% in effect.
The racers will also have a say on future rule changes which is a first for NASCAR in this country and a welcome idea that knowone expected.
NASCAR plans on building the Canadian Tire Series to the highest level for both Race Teams And the Race Fans, and making the shows an experience is their number 1 priority for both.
NASCAR introduced rule changes for 2008 which is great, allowing the Teams one year to be ready and up to date. The meeting was controlled by several NASCAR officials from both sides of the border and the selection of people to run the series has been hand picked. Only the very best will oversee this new series. NASCAR also said that this is a NEW RACING SERIES so past Champions and past winners, as well as rookies awards will hold no Merritt making this a complete new deal for everyone and puts everyone on a level playing field.
The meeting was very much informed- well run- in agreement by both parties, and made everyone including myself very comfortable with the presentation and impact of NASCAR in Canada.

The Con's:
If the answers to questions I had were answered by NASCAR as clear as they were at the meeting,
I would have never had a negative opinion on the whole deal. Basically, NASCAR listened to our concerns and decided to work with all of us instead of against us- a very big move on both parts.
After listening to what NASCAR had to say, and what they are willing to work with, I can officially say I AM IN... and they are going to do a great job for the Canadian Tire Series, the Race Track Promoters the Race Teams and the most important group of all- The Fans.

Just for the record- No one asked me to say this, but I realize some of the things I have said about this whole deal may have sounded a little negative, and at times I have been a little pissed of the lack of information, the delays in a schedule, and a lack of support by all.
All in all I will be the first guy to say to everyone... This NASCAR deal is going to be big and very exciting for everyone by providing the very best in making the NASCAR CTS races one heck of a great show.
THANKS

I agree with 99% of Midamerica's post.  The meeting was well planned and VERY professionally executed which is a nice change.  The confidence level is high and I get the idea that Mr. Buck has a large stack of contracts sitting on his desk waiting to be signed.  It would appear that they've done as much homework as could be expected.  There is a significant increase in officials at every event, increases in safety gear that will be at every event with at least 2 full time guys that have been trained to use it.  Probably the biggest change is the tire procedure.  No more buying tires before the event, tires will be tracked via barcode scanning and there will be an impound area at every event.  8 new tires per event plus 2 practice tires for emergency spares.  Qualifying will happen on stickers that will be released from impound during pre-qualifying inspection.  The down side to this is you'll need to buy four tires minimum to go racing.  Anybody that knows Kevin knows that he hasn't bought four new tires at once for quite a while.  😉

It's all good, from my seat anyway.

Lets have a look at this and separate the buckwheat from the BS .

1,  New tire rule as far as how many tires you get per event is limited to 10 and the tires can only be picked up at the race track on the race event days.

Great a single mandatory tire supplier (monopoly) we all know how that keeps tire prices down  ::). I see no tire price listed so I will guess the tire price is going to be around $160.a piece so you need almost 2K just for the tire bill.

2 although no numbers were announced, was backed up by NASCAR's annoucment that the purse money will be going UP by 30% to 60% based on the event.

A month out from the first race and they don't even know what the purse will be ? I know what I would make winning the feature at Varney Sauble, Sunset or even Emo  but NASCAR has not got it together yet  ::) Promises of a 30 % to 60% increases in purse sound good but I have heard this before and it has always turned out to be BS and I am willing to bet the farm they never get close to a 30 % increase .

3, Championship points awards will also increase by at least 30%. As well- the Champion will be invited to New York to be put on stage with the other NASCAR Champions- PLUS- the Champion will also be invited to compete in the Toyota Shootout..

Along with no race payout they had no points payout but they do have promises , I don't know about you but my bank does not cash promises. What an honor for the CANADIAN champion to be invited to AMERICA to accept his award  ::) That is quite an offer by NASCAR to allow the champion to tow over 5 thousand miles to a race that will not even pay a fraction of their travelling expenses .

4, The meeting was controlled by several NASCAR officials from both sides of the border and the selection of people to run the series has been hand picked.

I don't even know where to start with this ludicrous statement , The meeting was "controlled " that sounds a lot like they dictated how it was going to be and the teams bent over. The people who are going to run the series were "hand picked" by who Buck and Nitwitney ? That should in still confidence in everyone. ::)

5, the LUCKY DOG RULE is 100% in effect.

This may be one of the stupidest rules ever  (invoked by the great Brian France), total number of drivers ever killed or injured racing back to the caution is ZERO in over 50 years of racing. The only thing this rule has done is scue the record books.

6  NASCAR also said that this is a NEW RACING SERIES so past Champions and past winners, as well as rookies awards will hold no Merritt making this a complete new deal for everyone

NICE What NASCAR really said was we bought this series out and we really don't give a crap what you have been doing here for almost three decades  Sounds like Kerry Micks will be able to run for rookie of the year according to this ridiculous statement.

  7,The Con's:

Hey Mid you really should look up the word "con" as it would seem you have no idea what it means . Heres a tip it does not mean jamming your nose further up NASCARS butt and from what you have posted here it looks like someone has pulled you to the side and spanked you.
