is the king of the hill not a good way to induce new drivers to the sport. it has to be done with safety in mind though. secondly somebody would need to follow up with the fans that try king of the hill, problay a driver, see if they are interested, help them get involved in the sport we as driver have to make ourselves more accessible. we have the passion or addiction to pass on to new drivers that is the strongest weapon we have to grow the sport, make it easier to join.

Sure it is. It has been since they started doing it in the 70s.

No one's really complaining about the King of the Hill. Its fun, the fans love it, the Throne Kings are good people, the track makes money, everyone wins. The discrepancy we're talking about now is two fold. A: the prize money. B the Promotion.

Actual race drivers are fully justified in feeling slapped over this. 1000 bucks is a LM feature win, or 3 SS feature wins. I'm a driver, (speaking hypothetically) busting my ass in the garage, week in and week out, banging out dents, fixing clips, buying tires, hunting down parts, keeping the crew in beer, and paying 20-27 bucks EACH for my boys to come out and help me out on a Friday night. And then I see that joe blow in his street rod has a chance at cash I couldn't hope to make even if I won the feature. Then I see that the King of the Hill seems to be getting an awful lot of press...way more press than the program I'm involved in.

Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy about my efforts.

There have been thousands and thousands of words posted on the topic, and yes, the nabobs of negativity win this one.

Well they might have won this one...but purely on how loud they are. I've been looking and I've failed to see anything actually backing this up with regards the WWS as it is here and now.

Sure it was botched at the outset. They're the first guys to tell you that too. But the program right now has tremendous potential. (for the 2 tracks involved) The only missing link I see right now is no big sponsor. If they can find that, then we'll have something.

Shadowrace you said it right ( Reply 25 ) King of the hill since 70's. But now Delaware has started something new $1000.00 to win even though it is through a sponsor. They have set the latter
now every King Of The Hill Drivers of this group will expect the money($1000.00 ) to win. Sure this brings fans and money to the track. But to do this to much and as you have said your regular Drivers that put your racing show on will get tired of this
and some drivers will eventually leave here(some will retire and others will go to other tracks. Also only cars that have money in them will win this type of race sure the odd londshot  will win this but that is few & far between.Eventually your large turn out of these cars will dwindle as you know fads do die eventulally and this is what this is.Hopefully Delaware recognises this problem before it is to late.Remember your regular show drivers first if you do not and your King of the hill dwindles later on you could lose both and then where will you be
