Well, when at most small tracks in Ontario drivers are earning the same (if not less-Ottawa) than what they did 10-20 years ago. How is this an enticement to race on a weekly basis? How is it feasible to field a team?

This is a good point.  How does it make sense for these guys to run for the same or less money they did years ago, but the cars and maintenence cost 2-5 times more than it did years ago.  Doesn't take too much of a genious to see that.

This IMO is the problem with CCS(ottawa)  Arnie's done a great job promoting the track and bringing it back to a respectable facility/owner, but he needs to start paying these drivers more money(and not just the winner) to have the classes keep growing.  He has a pay schedule ont he site for the year end payouts...those should be the weekly payouts IMO and if that happened I bet he would see more cars in the pits and more fans in the stands.

As the old saying goes...you got to spend money to make money.  Some of these promotors should take that advice.  Spend the money on the purses, drivers and People will fill the place.

Remember the good ol' days when the Alstar late model series started, Three promoters and four tracks working together, scheduling races so the local track guys could run for points in both their local track and the super series? The spectators loved these races. you could hardly find a seat at sunset, sauble, or peterborough. the car counts were so high that not everyone that showed up could guarantee a spot in the feature. It was only when one promoter started to control the series and tried to put more events on the calendar, and thus conflict with local track schedules that the intrest started to dwindle. if we could get three or four tracks to start up a series like that again, and truly fill the stands, on a regular basis, we will see sponsors becoming more interested. oh, and by the way, we as the fans need to take notice of which company's support racing, and not only patronize them but let them know why we are choosing them, then we might start to reverse the vicious cycle. The bottom line is, we as race fanatics, no matter what your level of involvement in the sport is, need to work together to promote the sport, and stop all the childish bickering!

The tracks should do what the OSS does and pays less to the winners and more across the field.
