Kids Ride Night Highlights Crazy Night At Flamboro Speedway
By Randy Spencer - Another great night of weather at Bennett Chevrolet Flamboro Speedway. The Canadian Vintage Modifieds were back in town and were joined by the Pure Stocks, Mini Stocks, Thunder Cars and Pro 4 Modifieds. Due to being shorthanded in the scoring tower, I was unable to make notes as I normally do on race nights so unfortunately this week I will just post results and a few notes.
Also due to a scheduling conflict our usual announcing crew were unable to attend. Huge thanks go out to three racers for filling in. John Karley, Linda Stenhouse and Rich Schwartzenburg all did a great job. They all put there knowledge of racing and being behind the wheel to good use with lots of great information on drivers, cars and how they work in certain situations. John Karley even raced the first CVM race with the microphone in one hand. Gotta be a first for Flamboro I'm sure.
Just a few notes, nice to see the #76 of Shawn Taylor back out tonight. After his first Mini Stock feature win a few weeks back, he developed a valve problem then last week a blown engine. He was unsure if he would make the green flag but he showed up just prior to starting time with the car ready to go. Nice to see a couple cars in the winners circle. Wayde Thorne was pretty happy, he dominated his race and hasn't been out much in 2015. And after some major problems of late including rolling and destroying his car a few weeks back, congratulations to Matt Young on picking up his first feature win. Mark Burbridge ran two great Thunder Car races but had problems in tech after the races and failed to make it through. The annual Kids Ride Night took place prior to the races and it never fails to bring out a large crowd. Thanks to the staff for all their help and to all those drivers that gave up their time and gas to make all those young fans have a ride of a life time!!!
Please make plans to join us next week, August 8th. Racing gets under way at 7pm with the Lucas Oil Can Am Midgets making there return. They will be running TWIN 25 lap features to help celebrate the club's 50th anniversary this year. They are also joined by the Ray’s Auto Centre & Towing Thunder Cars, Klotz Auto Repair & Engine Machine Shop Mini Stocks, the Pure Stocks and the BOMB Energy Drink Pro 4 Modifieds. Pit gates open at 4pm, Grandstands at 5pm and green flag flies at 7pm.
