For whatever reason it is, it's the tracks choice who or what series they have race at the track and if people don't like it voice your opinion to the track.
We can't fly off all over the place and start another topic as the topic is set by the poster and this seems to be heading off the topic in cases.
I'm not getting involved and have no opinion I wish to post on this topic but the topic in hand is OSS & Flamboro and we can voice our opinions on why this happened or who's fault it is but only the two parties involved know what happened. so what ever is said here is here say.
Do I make sense or am I all lost here. I'm off to bed
To be fair to Flamboro: we've never seen any official information from them that said there was gonna to be a race. The OSS included them in a major press release in which they praised flamboro very heavily as what read to me as almost their flagship track. Conveniently that press release has been removed from the OSS website... So I thought I would go to the open public record here at CRO... which has also been deleted.
Great.
Thank goodness google never forgets: http://72.14.205.104/search?q=cache:DPaR751XFlAJ:www.ontariosportsmanseries.com/flamboro.htm+Ontario+Sportsman+Series+Flamboro&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=4&gl=ca
And just incase that goes away, lets put it in the public record........... again.
The OSS to race at Flamboro Speedway in '08!
It may only be December, but Racing is very much on the minds of Racer's and Race Tracks, and regardless of the weather outside, it's a sunny day in the OSS office.
What has made it so sunny is the daylight that has been shed on the 2008 OSS Schedule, and over the next 2 weeks the OSS will be releasing more information on what is to be expected in 08.New to the OSS is the signing of the famed Flamboro Speedway, one of Ontario's best 1/3 mile ovals which is surrounded by history and names. Many race car drivers have run at Flamboro Speedway and found it to be very challenging, but a great race track with a perfect racing surface that has always been well kept and the entire facility is well maintained and fan friendly. It has been a long time since cars like the OSS have taken to the Speedway, even when the series was under the title of the Cascar Sportsman Series, but in 2008 that is all going to change.
Track Owner, John Casale has signed a deal with the OSS to run a Twin 50 Special, which will be added to the OSS schedule and the date has been secured, but will not be released until the OSS finishes up on business maters that relate to other tracks and available dates.
Casale has been very successful over the years by booking great shows and providing a Saturday Night format that is always a guarantee of full fields and plenty of racing action. For John to sign the OSS for a special event is a great stepping stone for both the series and the track, and hopefully will remain on the OSS schedule for years to come.Flamboro Speedway is located just minutes from Hamilton Ontario, and for the fans that take in the great racing every Saturday night there will hopefully be impressed by the OSS, and its Teams.
Although Flamboro likes to keep the starting line up to a number of around 26, the OSS could be a first to start more then that as over 30 teams are very eager to run on the 1/3 mile oval, so Race Fans can expect to get their moneys worth when the OSS takes to the Track. The OSS wants to thank John Casale for being the first to sign a deal for 2008 and plans are well on their way to make this one event that everyone will remember. For Ticket information you will find the information available on the Flamboro Speedway web site, www.flamborospeedway.itgo.com as well at www.ontariosportsmanseries.com
once the dates have been made public.
For all of the Fans of the OSS... we look forward to seeing you at Flamboro Speedway in 2008.
Lets also take a second to note the car count speculation thrown in the middle there for good measure. Done? Lets continue.
Here is some speculation/thoughts/ramblings/text:
What's one of the worst spots a track can be in? I would imagine it looks kinda like this. A touring series release their schedule and a glowing press release with you on it; you (the promoter) didn't realize that the deal was done. Now your in a spot where everyone thinks you having a race that you weren't totally committed to yet. You release your own schedule, which you hope will clear things up but some people still think your holding the race!
Now you have to put out a statement saying you're not having a race............ that you weren't having.
It makes the track look like the bad guy. Smart move on the OSS
Some type of falling out occured between Flamboro and the OSS What caused this reversal of events?
And hey, what happned a few weeks ago when members from this board called the track and got different answers (No, then later yes) to the question of a race?
There is tons to talk about in this thread.
Also note: Mobile1 was right all those weeks ago. 5 points to Griffindor.
Well if someone called the track and they said no, then later yes, maybe John changed his mind after working out his schedule.
But after reading the press release again, it says that Flamboro signed a contract.......so did they or didnt they?....if they did, then the OSS has grounds too hold the track too the contract or sue? no?....and if they didnt.....well then we know what that means.
depends if the contract had out clauses, etc....
has anyone looked at the schedule on oss's site. see the little line on the bottom- SUBJECT TO CHANGE- being on both sides, track/promotor and series operator sometimes things slide south. the problem here as i see it is that members of this site hold oss to a higher standard than others, that is their right to do so but with higher standards comes greater dissapointments, live with it guys you sound like a bunch of old ladies.
