a couple of reasons for no fans, it was raining in hamilton at race time and continued off and on so i was surprised to hear they got the show in...tigercats and argo game, i'm 4 blocks away from Ivor Wynne and they were partying starting at noon...one of the biggest festivals of the year started today only blocks from the stadium and even with the rain it was pretty packed...some people had monday off and worked today.
Oh it all makes sense....I didn't expect to see it packed...but I mean around 100-150 people it looked like....is terrible.
flamboro never seems to draw fans well for these specials anyways really...and the last 3 saturdays were probably the first decent crowds this year....should continue with the 2nd grisdale race this weekend...plus now that i go to ohsweken every week, i'm surprised how many people i see that use to go to flamboro.
plus who other than the hardcore even knew this event was on? How much did John charge for admission?. It would have been a great "pack the track" type event like I see in the States, for example $5.00 admission and get a lot of folks in and make a killing at the concessions, although the chinese fire drill that is Flamboro's concession probably can't handle more than a couple hundred people. I know the washrooms can't. Have to remember that this show was basically support divisions also.
If he continually refuses to promote the place, how do they expect people to know about it.
And I believe Crash also mentioned that a lot of folks were working today, not retail, but industrial, as a number of industries prefer shutting down on the Monday or Friday so machines don't have to be fired up twice in one week. Where I worked before retiring has the 3rd off for example.
Sauble (even though they rained out) could get away with the midweek show format as they seem to depend on vacationers for much of their business.
It was full price...$15.
