What would you racers like to see changed for 2010

I like the sprint car idea ! I would say run the same crate engine as the SS and trucks (602 I believe) ! The light weight of a sprinter and no heavy driveline to turn would make them pretty quick I think and you could warm the the car up out of gear then fire it in gear with a starter so no push start needed !!! I would'nt be the first one to build one though ... been down that road when we tried to get a crate engine supermod class going at Cayuga a few yrs ago !  :-*

After reading this thread yesterday,the samll block SuperMod is the direction I want to see.I remember seeing that car at Cayuga at the ISMA race in '05.Not as fast as a full blown Super,but,wwwwwaaaayyyy faster than a grocery getter.If I remember correctly,it had a fixed sprint car wing on top,350 crate motor that used gasoline,and,was it offset?I know it did'nt look like the limited Supers they run at Oswego.

I thought it was a great idea that one could imagine,after a few years of action at one track,morphing into a possible touring series.Unfortunately,the people running that track at the time had no idea at all on how to build that type of series.Seeing as Delaware seems to be where ISMA wil be racing in Southern Ontario,a small block SuperModified program at the track as a weekly or bi-weekly series would be a natural tie in...

I'd have to agree, gearbox.  I think the Modifieds are great to watch, despite such a poor field.  I have to ask, what IS it that's bringing the budget close to a Late Model?  Is it the engine?  The tires?  Why not mandate a 602 crate instead of a 604, run it as a sort of entry-level open wheel.  I'm sure they'll still be plenty quick and awesome to watch with 350 hp instead of 400.

As far as Super Stock, there a few minor rules that bother me in terms of keeping the costs down, part of why I didn't make it out this year.  Things like having to run a lexan windshield instead of glass (does any other track even require that?) and needing a 3-link rear to keep up...

And feeling embarassed that I won't have a $1500 containment seat and a $1200 HANS device and a $10,000 enclosed trailer like everyone else does...

The mods can run the 602, the 24 does it and have won some heat races. The 602 gets less weight 150 less and it can be competative, if it handels.

As for the Super Stocks containment seats cost less than $1500 they are between $400 and $500 for a basic Kirky, the HANs are less than $900 also look at Defender or Hutchens device if you want one, they are not rules and sould be IMOA. An enclosed trailer is just icing on the cake. I run an open trailer as well as the 77, 99, 24, 98, 04, 5, 22, 51, 52, 66, 97 (if I remember correctly), if you have an enclosed trailer you usually have been racing for years and have some extra $. A enclosed trailer dosen't make you competative.

Lexan windshield is cheap, last 3 years and safer, and lighter than glass, if you don't get non-mar they are only about $100 top.

Enduros run the radials, why take a step backwards and make the trucks run radials, that just blows my mind, its good that the trucks have to run on bias ply tires, at least then if you move up you are used to that type of tire and how it reacts on the track and not out there not knowing what the tire will and can do safely. Either way the tire would have to be purchased from Mccoll Racing, they would just bring back the Firestone Firehawks again why bother, hoosier makes a great tire, and bias ply is the way to go why take a step backwards on tires, tires are no issue for that division.

As far as the street stock seat/hans debate ill throw my cents in there. Personally, the truck i have built, I have a bulter full containment seat, it cost me 230$ USD shipped to my home off Ebay, so the whole oh 1500 thing, yes if you go to butler/lajoie etc and buy a BRAND NEW CUSTOM seat from them, but Kirkley makes a full containment seat, the 48 car in street stock has one for 690$ CAN with everything. I also have a new hans device that i purchased on Ebay for 600$ USD, now Mccolls sells them for 890$ or so which is rather steep and you can get them cheaper from the Hans factory its just a matter of convience. Like someone else said you can get hutchens device, defender device and a few other devices for cheaper and they still do the same thing, just hans is what all the big name people use and its more proven to protect then the others.

The whole point is, is it worth your life to hit the wall, NO matter what speed it is and have you or someone else seriously hurt during an accident, NO its not. so for say 2000$ to have a full containment seat, a hans (or whatever) that you can move from car to car, series to series worth it? personally yes, EVERY Wheelen All-American Series, that i was around down south REQUIRED a hans and a least one head restraint (as i believe the rules are for delaware is) on the seat if not a full containment seat. These are things that should be implmented, at least a head and neck restraint to protect that before someone gets hurt seriously, the speeds are getting faster every year so extra safety must be implemented at point or another.

Again thats just my 2 cents about the whle thing, i have them for when im running trucks next year and i wasnt going to do it unles i had them, just my feeling on the issue.

The 24 Mod also won a feature this year with the 602.  The track is putting together the package to run the 602 to make them competative with the 604. This is an attempt to make getting into a modified much more cost effective and hopefully entice others to join the class.

Tires wouldn't have to be bought from Mccoll, and firehawks aren't even being made anymore (well kinda, it's basically the indy 500 now), we ran the bfg radial t/a's in the street stocks and trucks the last couple of years before the change to hoosier and I didn't like having limited sizing options and paying a little extra so we bought them from Glen and had them shaved while we wait to our specs, worked out really nice.
