Shadow: sort of saw the same thing happen at Holland Speedway in NY a few years ago. When Nascar truck racing was popular in its' infancy, Holland changed its' Charger division (which is like what they call in NY a "super stock"-picture a metric street stock on 11" wide slicks) to a truck division, some had to run sort of an extended cab to fit over exisitng roll cages. Some built new cages on existing chassis. It was extremely popular for about 5 years but what happened is the cost to run the class was 90% of the cost to run a late model with less than half the purse paid out.

They were starting to run almost as fast as the late models. In fact, before the conversion, Holland used to let the top four drivers from the Charger feature run tail on the the late model feature if the lm field had less than 20 cars which it usually did in the mid 90s. I just wonder if we have a similar scenario, that the costs outweigh the return????

OK Mike. I think the mods and maybe the lates at delaware should be running the 602 crate. If for no other reason than parity with the rest of the province. If I'm not mistaken Richmond is running the 602.
When the mods upped the antie and started putting LM parts on them the class changed alot. We started to get the McColl built mods winning every week. Now if your not in one or your not Jamie Cox its pretty tough to compete.
Yes a crate sprinter would be a great idea. Maybe not for delaware but definately for ohsweken. See what you can do about making that happen tommy.

Racer43 you are correct, Richmond is running the 602 crate in the Mod.  The hope is that by running this motor and proving you can be competative against the 604's, it might entice more people to run the OWM and bring it back to a price point that is more affordable.  I think in the last couple of races, Richmond is showing that he can be competative with the 604's.  (But that is just my very unbiased opinion  ;)).
