And yet the arguement rages on, this expanded concept of the Caos cars has not yet even begun. If lets say a RWD mustand showed and say raced and got wrecked, there would be alls kinds of whining of how crappy the track was, how crappy john was, how crappy the officiating was, my race car is ruined blah blah, blah. Bring yourself a front wheel drive beater with a decent cage as per the rules as thet are laid out and you're golden. Pretty simple formula I'd say.

It's nice to see Delaware join the smaller tracks in offering a chance for anyone thats wants to try racing some way to do it without spending a lot of money.  The so called "joke" classes are where new racers come from for the higher classes.  They usually bring a lot of fans with them as many are kids, so they bring their friends, parents, grandparents etc.  Where are new racers going to come from if you don't offer somewhere for them to start.  Those that race a late model or a modified, do you want someone that has never raced before, build a car and come out and race with you??  This has always been a disaster, I know it and you know it.  We have seen an increasing number of racers leave late models, modifieds etc just because they can no longer afford it.  Those that really just want to race come back to a class where parts can be purchased from your local wrecking yard or the Canadian Tire store.  These people are still dedicated racers and want to come out, bring their friends, and have a good time even though they may not fit your idea of a serious racer, where the mentallity of "run with the big dogs or stay on the porch" exists.
I don't see a problem with the cars you are asking for coming to Varney.  We really encourage that kind of safety equipment however, we took precautions at Varney to keep the speeds down so it wasnt absolutely necessary.  We don't want RACE cars.  We want that car in your driveway that nobody will buy, with as much cage as you are comfortable with, without front and rear hoops.  We are hoping that if you can afford good belts this time (there are a lot out there from other racers that have to change theirs every two years), that next you will get a better seat and so on.  Our idea of claiming one of of the top ten cars is our way of helping to insure that a lot of money is not spent.  Any safety equipment can be removed from the car (fuel cell, safety seat, safety belts).
Stick to your guns John. I am sure that you can make this work.
Good luck
Les

I was up at Varney last night to do some "Investigating" and I was impressed with your 4 cylinder class, although there was varying degrees of car prep the class seemed to pretty good, of course the cars inclined to racing were the fastest. John stay the course!
