Don't be foolish enough to think you can't build a killer 'Glide that will perform as well as any manual. Automatics are capable of anything a manual can do. ๐ฎ
Agreed, the Glides can be made to do crazy things but you're right, the original thought when we first started was to keep the cost down by not having to run Scattershields and expensive clutches. Some guys early on tried using a dummy torque converter with a switch to lock it up (very illegal) while others poured a load of money into modifying a Glide. We had a Glide with no second gear and the guts ripped out, it only weighed 33lbs! It was great until we were asked by tech to put it in second gear and move forward! Oops!
