Allowing the built motors the upper hand was ultimately letting the tiger out of the cage. The built motors being allowed vortech heads and headers was just a kick in the nuts to the crate program. The Crate program was working and in my mind working well. I know there were cars parked in sheds cause they couldn't afford a crate,,,blah blah blah. The built motors have effectively forced the crates to risk getting caught. This is just my opinion and in know way refers to anybody or any given situation. Lets roll the crate program back into the front where it belongs 🙂

I like Jeff but my understanding of the rules are if you screw with a crate you are gone for a calender year.
What I read sure sounds like someone was screwing with a crate.

Read again.... way off base here on your comments!

43. OPTION A: CRATE ENGINE

44. OPTION B: BUILT ENGINE

Had you done so prior to posting you would not look so ??

Very curious to see how the "appeal" process works. As I have read it you get to appeal to the race director the very person who placed as much trust as can be placed in racing so that's a lost cause and you have no recourse at all to nascar so where do appeals even have a chance

20. APPEALS

1. Right of appeal is given to any Delaware Speedway member who has been penalized for any infraction of rules, regulations or specifications of Delaware Speedway with exception of a black flag.

2. Appeal must be made within five (5) days after notification and shall be made in writing to Delaware Speedway headquarters.

3. Hearing shall be heard by Delaware Speedway and decisions made within ten (10) days.

4. Decisions made by Delaware Speedway on appeals shall be final. Re-appeals will not be granted.

Yeah smith barney I know the step however perhaps I should have typed "appeals process" as the whole thing is a sham and given the info posted ut quote simply is an absolute waste of effort.  As for the valves if they are not allowed then that's it black and white penalize to last place and carry on however if foreign parts or obvious tampering is found with the rev limiter that is something that would be among the most severe things you could do and warrants very heavy penalty. As for the tampering with the crate who got that at the start of the year? I did hear about one part way through the year but nothing happened there and I know there are a few that have surfaced sold as crates that were obviously doctored and still made it through tech.  Tech has missed bolts that had weld marks on them and other easy giveaways so perhaps they should pay more attention.

I can barely afford to keep tires on my car and you expect me to put up a protest of $400 to rip down a crate?
You can make some pretty incredible power with a 2 barrel Holley sitting on a well built balanced motor. So you want me to spend two tires worth of money to rip down a built that cost at least as twice as much as crate. What for? I know it's better than my cast piston'd vibrating wonder, why else do you think it was bought in the first place?
The formula was working last year, why change it? so we can all spend our money on protest fees?
This is going to bring more teams to the division? I doubt it. What the bloody hell does protest fees have to do with affordable racing? Are you kidding me? I need a 9" for my car not a bunch of protest forms and a protest fund.
Protests are a way of letting the tech end of things get lazy, Ask the track to buy a crate and if you get protested you gotta run the track crate while your mill gets dyno'd
