i agree chap well said JR. Now back to what this post was origanally about. This past Friday after the truck feature the 01 truck was also dq'd for under cut valves . That means that the three fastest trucks all year got dq'd at least once each. To my knowledge the 16 (who won the championship)never had a problem in tech garage all year and only won one feature. Guess cheating don`t pay.LOL
how manny more wins would the 16 have and how much did he and others lose weekly in winnings from the cheaters not being caught Too busy kissin to see the whole picture are ya ?
Jeebus, anyone have any skin left on their noses after that one??!!
Nope its all on Jack's ASS LOL ;D
I'm saying one built this years had over $7000 in it and you think built motor racing isn't about the wallet? You would have to devise a system of allowed part numbers and then machining costs. The idea is to keep a cap on spending, as cost is killing the entire sport of racing. Do the tracks take over and control the spending or do they watch evaporate? I've heard from promoters in the south with the same situation and they are taking control. If I had my way you wouldn't see a single vortec head in the enduros and trucks would all be running those 290 hp crates on a 5500 chip.
Fair enough, but I wasn't saying that it's not about the money, I was pointing out that regardless of WHICH engine package we go with, there's gonna be some guys who get more power out of them, and yeah, usually they spend more money to do it.
Going Crate-only won't limit costs. We all know you can cheat up a Crate just as easily these days, thanks to the aftermarket. Banning a Built engine isn't going to resolve the problem, and limits some racers' choices. There's gotta be some other option from the Tech lane to keep a cap on things.
The "spec" engine (built but using Part Numbers) is an interesting idea, there's plenty of tracks that run that package, including Ohsweken. I'd like to hear from drivers there about how it's worked out.
EDIT: Also, I agree whole-heartidly with JR that headers on Built motors make quite a bit more power. But we asked for them because Ram Horn manifolds are a bitch to fit properly and cost a lot, and in the Super Stocks at least, were a bitch to fit in the car. Is more weight the solution? Or some way to restrict the headers, maybe require 2.25" exhaust where the crates can run 3", or something?
for the people that must spend money and there are more than one of them at every track the only way to make it fair if a spec engine can't be agreed or mandated by each track is to take away the cash advantage...like with tires some tracks have a one tire per week raced rule that works good.....with builts yes manifiolds are not a good way to go $$ wise but a spec Header could work like the spec 3 inch for crates and a spec 2 1/4 for builts with the 2 1/4 going all the way front to back the other way is to put builts on a smaller carb......added wieght doesnt do it for high HP motors it would take 10 pds per hp to make it fair with no realistic way of telling how many HP diff is in a motor with lightwieght parts being used in some and not others
justracin you need to take it down a bit, you are entitled to your opinion and you sure are entitled to voice it. What you need to do is be respectful of people and constructively argue a point. Piling on post after post just to read yourself? C'mon why don't you post some worthy points of conversation? Personal opinion of people is not what this forum is about, last time I checked it was about racing and this particular thread was about Delaware in and the racing there. Please try to keep on topic and show us how educated you are and your ability to put fourth reasonable points for debate. Now I sincerely hope I haven't offended you
I have always been around racing, since my father worked in it for years. There's ALWAYS someone who will come along and rip through a class. Usually they have either spent the time, or the money (usually both), and it takes a season or two for everyone to catch up. Or they get tech'd out of the garage so badly, they either dumb down the ride, or take it elsewhere. These arguments never go away, and it's not even stopped in our upper ranks. NASCAR still has it today with engine programs (Carl Edwards stating the Fords finally caught up in horsepower.... cmon now).
Bottom line, no one is ever happy unless they are winning, and those others will flip out if others are beating them regularily. As JR stated, he had the resources, read the rules, and they built it for fun. If it was a serious thing for them to run it would be there every week (I know he has other commitments, but still). As Justracing pointed out, some things are too far, but if it is in the rules, go bitch at Delly.
I don't think the class is too far out of reason, if you look at many of the front runners. Lawrence, Fothergill (new body but still Nova underneath), PeeWee, Lidster, Lake.... we could go on. Heck, even Jake/Jimmy Ott are great bets to win, and they are struggling through this season (like everyone who works for their money). I think the whining needs to stop at some point, and everyone who can't seem to win.... needs to take the car apart and look for a few advantages. Just an idea, from an open point of view.
