I believe he was flagged for aggressive moves, and sorry to say I feel it was justified. He didn't "wreck" anyone but came close. Just my opinion, but seemed like a man on fire. Definitely had a shot to win, if he could get to the front.
Surprised nobody has mentioned that Justin DeMelo who started 26 out of the 39 cars that started the feature finished 10th and on the lead lap also.Yes it was a Vanderwyst car but if not mistaken this was DeMelos first race in aLM could be wrong with that comment but donot remember him running a LM .Seen him run Enduro etc.
it was nice meeting you to shadow maybe we'll get to talk more next year at the races ;D
or maybe ill see you in the stands at the last enduro
too bad about our luck in the total APC 300 seems like this race is bad luck for us 4 years running in it 4 wrecks maybe the 5th times a charm??
SmithBarney: the only thing I see wrong with guaranteeing 18 spots for weekly runners is that it might scare "invaders" away. I think there should be a guaranteed spot for the top 5 in weekly points only and everything else is fair game. And starting 32 would be ideal. I heard it was a pretty fair cut from the winners share down to what 2nd and 3rd got. Maybe what was paid from 33 to 39 could have been better used beefing up the purse for second thru fifth.
Just wish there was more universality in the rules. I believe Glenn Gault used to run this race. Looks like he stuck to Lake Erie Speedway Saturday instead. (Vanderwyst ran there this year for example) Maybe too much of a bother to change his car over. There are still 20-25 very similar cars that run at Lake Erie. Similarly with Flamboro-different tires and wheels---but really another potential 20 cars (I figure if the 4x can run the Delaware rules, more can change their cars over). Kawartha-another 10 or more cars that could conform (KD has a lot of limited lates filling their field).
Take a look at the different formulas Kawartha uses to allow the different kinds of late models and maybe that's the way to go............just food for thought.
Coming from a mainly a Dirt background, you can take a dirt sportsman car and run it at 25 different tracks and be legal at them all-same rules everywhere. Unfortunately the asphalt promoters seem to act as little islands unto themselves with rules to keep their drivers from wandering.
Delaware is a big track. I"d love to see a full 43 car field take to the track, let alone 30 to 32 cars. One thing a 43 car field would do is make drivers earn their way to the front. The steering wheel has to be good for something other than just turning left around a corner.....
Every Autumn Colours at Peterborough, it always seems that the Thundercars are one of the best shows to watch because there's always more cars on the track then any other class. I realize that not everyone agrees. At Autumn Colours last year and the year before, I disagreed with JP only letting 24 - 26 LLM "qualify" for the race. Yes it gets crowded on a 1/3 mile track, but the fans love it and it makes it more of a challenge for the leaders and harder for them to stretch out a big lead.
And with todays economy and those that truly make the haul to show up and race, I think that if there's room to be on the track, they should let them run.
