Unofficial scoring results HEREGREAT Photos by JWO Racing HEREby MaudsleyMotorsports.com HEREAPC Late Model Championship Twin 25s - Race 1The qualifying order for these two races was similar to the one they used a few weeks back, in that the 1st race was determined by the first tim trial lap, and the second race determined by the second time trial lap. They ran straight up. (no inversion) A note, the red Delisle car was numbered with a jury rigged 10 for the Delaware races. Kennedy started scratch in each race and completed only one lap. (maybe a favor to everyone else? NASCAR points are partly based on car count.) Your front row is 15-Matthews and 52 Sheridan, followed by 28-Robblee/02-Watson, then 4-Urlin/20-Lindsay. Opening lap Matthews jumps to an early lead while Sheridan and Robblee, our two main championship contenders, battle side by side for 2nd. Once they get through the opening laps, the order shakes out to Matthews, Robblee, Sheridan, Urlin, Watson, Lindsay and Hooker. Lap 5 is our first incident when 72-Thompson goes around in turn 1 and 2-Stewart spins to avoid. Stewart's car glances off Thompson, but neither seem too badly damaged.Under theis caution there seems to be a little bit of confusion as to whether or not laps are being counted under yellow. The scoreboard is ticking them down, but we've been told they won't count. Were all the way up to lap 9 or 10, then they back it back down to lap 7, so they decided cautions wouldn't count.Now on the lap 7 restart, they take the green and the next lap Watson gets squirelly down the backchute casuing the field to stack up, but with no major mishap until Watson gets to turn 3 and loops it. The officals feel that the spin was courtesy of 22-Ramsay but it was an iffy call I thought. Ramsay and Watson to the back. Now after the restart, Robblee's putting early pressure on Matthews with Sheridan lurking in 3rd spot. They continue till lap 12 when 27-Box appears to go around in 1 all alone. Caution.After this restart, by lap 17 Matthews and Robblee are on the run with a few lengths seperating them from the 2nd pack of Sheridan, Urlin and Lindsay. The best race on the track right now is for 6th, a three way tilt between Watson, Hooker and 77-Verhoeven, which Vehoeven eventually wins.Up front, Robblee has closed on Matthews and the two of them have about ten lengths on everyone else. Robblee gives it the old college try, but the young gun Matthews takes the race. 1st Matthews, 2nd Robblee, 3rd Sheridan, 4th Urlin, 5th Lindsay.Invaders Race - 25 laps. For posterity, and in qualifying order, our 2009 visiting team consists of 5x Kennedy, 3-Kennington, 19-Brendan Watson, 49-Clarke, 61-Hathaway, 03-McGinnis, 56-Pyle, 82-Shaw, 3x-Powell, 31-McWhirter, 182-Demelo (sporting Vanderwyst Racing logos), 21-Pritko (other Ramsay car re-numbered) 106-Wild, 91-MacGillvary, 4x-Zurbrigg, 24-Josiasse (guy that owns Peterboro Speedway) 9-Trevor Monaghan (Elliott's Fri nite car) 5-Delisle and 7-Vanderwyst. ;D ;DI say this every year but it bears repeating - to the invaders that might be reading this, thanks so much for making the trip. You guys make this Labor Day show what it is, just as much as the Delaware guys do. On behalf of the fans - we salute and thank you for the effort. Come back anytime! ;D ;DThe summary of the race is actually a pretty short one. Kennedy gets out in front. He's on rails and smokes the whole field. Kennigton and Watson stage a pretty good battle for 2nd, but neither has anything for Kennedy. This race is pretty much a freight train, with no real passing up front, and they end pretty much in the order they started. At the drivers meeting they reiterated that it was just for qualifying order and everyone was making the show - so it didn't make much sense for the guys to push em too hard anyway. (One incident on the white flag lap when Wild loops it in turn 2 and almost collects Kennedy.) 1st to Kenndy, 2nd to Watson, 3rd to Clarke, 4th to McGinnis, 5th to Hathaway. Vanderwyst had a disappointing day. We expected to see him gunning for the lead, but it never transpired. Likewise for Pyle. I was expecting him to be hot, but his last outing with us on a Friday night was more competitive than he was today.APC Late Model Championship Twin 25s - Race 2So now we come down to it. By my own rough calculation, Robblee was a point ahead going in, but it was announced that it was a dead heat for 1st. Front row this time out has Watson on the pole with Robblee alongside, then Matthews and Sheridan. Watson jumps out front first and Sheridan gets shuffled back to 5th. After it shakes out, the top 3, Watson, Robblee and Matthews are nose-tail and on the run. Lap 7 or 8 and Watson drifts high in 1 allowing Robblee to get a nose under. They race side by side but Watson cant keep Robblee at bay. Robblee slips into 1st and Watson falls out of line all the way back to 7th.Now at lap 10, Matthews is right on Robblee's bumper,...

I also like to give a special thank you to my temp. spotter for the race Jamie Maudsley.You did a fantastic job! You kept me calm,you boosted me up when I needed to be.Maby a contract in the works? Thanks again Jamie!

agreed too many cars, why not limit the field to 32, 18 from Delaware regulars, 10 from the invaders, 2 provisional based on time trials, and 2 from the last chance 25...

Definately official as we got paid the big cheque and I noticed that the final points are now listed on Delaware's site. Pretty sad that it takes more than two days to get something up on Delawares site. They seem to forget the power of a website and they seem to rely on this Forum to give everyone info...either way great race...

Just lending my 2 cents to see what people think

I grew up at this race track in the early 70's, worked,raced at several tracks across Ontario and a few in the US
and I haven't been to Delaware much the last 10 yrs except for a couple of special events here and there.

Now I don't like hacking on people but did anyone else in the crowd get the feeling that the announcing was a little ill informed . I'm sorry but it sounded like they were at their first race ever. Suggesting they were pouring oil or water on brake rotors (REALLY) PS they were bleeding the brakes, probably overheated the fluid. I'm sorry but there was so many contradictions with each other and I know they are using a new scoring system, but I was able to keep better track of the top 15 in my head. I'm sorry for hacking but track officals should know more than the avg fan.
KUDOS to Brandon Watson ! fantastic run for a great young driver. Could have ran Jesse till he was completely sideways but knew enough to let off.
Good to see someone with a tough year have a big finish congrats Jesse.
One last thing, after reading here a little, it sounds like #15 Matthews gets a little aggresive now and then.
Did he get into a few guys and make the pass (yes) he moved a couple guys but didn't cause a caution or wreck anyone.He was black flagged twice for it. Here's my question Why was Ronnie Sheridan allowed to dump Matthews causing a yellow and now penalty.Looks like a little suspect.
