Let me start by saying all classes put on a great show tonight. Some of the best racing I have seen.
Now, having said that, the ticket issues were unacceptable to me. I arrived 10mins before the national anthem tonight, and missed the first 3 races waiting in line for my ticket. If your ticket system doesn't work, do something about it! Why not print some tickets ahead? Why not have a few cash only lanes? This doesn't seem too hard to me.
And while I am in a typing mood, can someone please explain the Andrew Gressal call to me. Powell takes him out, and gets black flagged, I get it. But what did Gressal do after the fact, swerve at him a few times under caution? There was no contact. Does swerving now require a 1 lap stop and go? Seems a little excessive for a guy that is already going to the back for no fault of his own.
I am really torn here, as I loved the racing, but I don't know that I can support delaware any longer, as there are lots of choices for friday night racing.
Ive felt the pain of waiting in line missing the first 30 mins of racing....few cash lines great idea ...ive bitched about this lots ....Ohsweken,speedway can burn the line up super fast there old school way is much faster, the racing was good tonight as it is most nights....so now i buy my tickets online ..avoid the slowest ticket windows of any race track ive ever been too....
As I saw it and as it was said by Watson in victory lane... Powell didn't initiate the spin. Gresel was loose and going around before Powell got into him. So yes, Gresel's reaction to his own mistake was a one lap penalty in my opinion. the call on Powell was unfair in my opinion. The guy sitting in third said he didn't touch him - good enough proof for me.
As for the wait times sure a few cash lines would be good and whatnot, however they do have an online ticket system for a reason... Use it maybe? hahaha :p The online system is there to save time, it is the "way of the future" why not take advantage of it 🙂
If you can't come back to Delaware because of one call... I have no comment for that either.
I don't see any issue with having them both in to cool their heels.
There should be a good debate on the Powell call. Some have suggested that it was a bad call as Gresel had gotten loose in 2, however I don't see how that gave Powell the right to just drive right through him.
Sharpie has apparently been telling the boys that if someone goes around off of your front bumper, then expect to be sent back.
This call was quite consistent with that statement.
Regarding the ticket thing....yeah....there is definitely some work to do. Although it could also be said that if you're showing up just as the anthems are playing...you might wanna think about getting there earlier.

The speedway is experiencing increased crowds, in a manner that it hasn't seen in years. While this is a 'good' problem as has been identified, the reality is that we will readily admit the challenges it is causing with lineups whether for food or tickets, and it's definitely not a good problem if you're caught out in the line. Certainly work to be done - - no doubt. We are working to correct the issue to accommodate the increase in attendance.
To be clear, this isn't a matter of the speedway changing something from previous years that is causing us not to keep up - - it's that attendance has been larger than anticipated at nearly every event and is requiring us to do some innovation to get caught up to where the fans already are.
Thanks for your patience. We'll get there.
