Real cost? I respect you Jim, but I feel you may be wrong here. We are friends, but this time we are opposite poles. There have been some guys come out and dominate. There's quite a few doing well with the new bodies. Some are quicker than others, I agree the rules were lopsided to the new bodies.

But no one totally knew how well they were going to do. Could have implemented rules changes quicker, but then again... we don't work there, and excuses for them I just don't have any. I love S/S, but you know this change had to come about... or there would be no future for it. Was it rocky and painful??... Yes, but it's done now and hopefully the Tech Garage will be more helpful in a lopsided situation.

Break it down for us?

The biggest costs are constant rule changes and not providing a stable rules platform to build on. There is no one real deterrent but many factors coming into play. We have gone thru allot of changes and they have been pretty radical. Changes in format, dates, cars, engines, bodies, special events. And there is word a tire change maybe coming.
How do you expect people to want to invest time and money into something that changes constantly.
Money for racing is tough to get yet the tracks toss around rules changes like they nothing. I tore out the right side of my approved car with 2 seasons on it...why? cause somebody figured my three bars were not as good as different configuration.
All the race formats have changed, events we have built stable fan bases have all changed. The best way to drive people away is to confuse them. I might be talking out my ass but It's the way I feel about the way things have gone. Hopefully the fans will be less likely to come to the conclusions that I have.
About the only that hasn't changed is the washrooms...Maybe those will get swapped for opening day as well!!!!
