"2) Look at how the track is sitting for the 2007 season so far.
- meeting have already been held for all the teams
- rule books were our in November and finalized
- new teams are signed up
- improvements were promised to be done by race season
- tentative schedule was out by December
- new partners are on the Delaware website
- I think there is even new sponsors listed
Now just go back one year none of the above was done. Kevin, Amy and the other staff at Delaware have done great work to get the track ready for 2007. Last year we were all complaining that they wern't gonna be ready."
"3) there are over 100 teams that keep the track going, Kevin and Amy were management and a vital part, but they arrange for the Show, we bring it (fans and teams)."
Just a comment (not an attack) about what DB71 mentioned earlier. I agree that alot has been done to prepare for the upcoming season and the track is definately in a better place now than they were this time last year. I also agree that the fans and the racers make the show, whats a Friday night without both, right? I also think it's great that the race director is optimistic about the racing being a go for the season. That being said, there is alot about a Friday night besides the racing... For example, I like checking the web-site for updates before I leave home on a grey afternoon, buying admission tickets, buying a program, getting something to eat or drink, checking out the souvenir booth, buying a beer or two, checking out the displays on the main concourse. What goes on at the top of the hill seems like a show all in its own. Who's going to run that when the race director is in the pits or on top of the tower and the owners are in the VIP lounge?

Smelly Cat, Smelly Cat,
What are they feeding you?
Smelly Cat, Smelly Cat
It's not your fault
Well, looks like the homepage for Delaware got updated with the same message...
With all due respect, most businesses tend to hire people do those things.
I think Kevin and Amy did a great job, (as much as I know about it, anyway) and I'm still hanging onto some hope that this isn't over for them. But if not, the promotions industry is not without people that can do this stuff. It'd be my guess that when you take the racing itself out of the equation, it'd run much the same as running a hockey team or a ball team: Find the sponsors, sell the popcorn, get the bums in the seats, etc
I'm not saying it isn't a tough job. I'd think its one of the hardest jobs in the world and I very much respect the people who do it, but it can't be so specialized that only 2 people on the planet can do it. Know what I mean?

Yeah, the folks that run that page should quit being so verbose in their announcements. 😛
