I guess we will have to wait and see what the tracks next move is as, this fighting after races is not good for the sport and one day someone is going to get seriously hurt.

I have hearing bits and pieces all over the place what happened to get this team so mad they went and beat a racer up?

RE: fighting in the pits, never got a good idea what really happened there, but I know that the 99 and the 1 were definitely unhappy with one another on the track. From the info I have, the 99 was piloted by ex OWM champ Barry Newman, whom I believe to normally be a pretty straight runner.

The 1 car of course is Jaxson Jacobs. He started the season rough, but in a pretty short period of time has shown some talent. I recall last year however, that team going after Grover after some sort of mishap, and it wasn't pretty. I only hope that the team/family's hot-headedness doesn't affect the young rookie's hopes. He's doing fine on the track and there's no need to screw it up for him.

As far as Thompson goes...yeah he's a bit of a wildcard. And if that monstrous hit he took a couple years ago after touching with Jesse Kennedy didn't cure it, then I don't think anything will. Guys like him make it interesting for sure.

There was a couple of times I wondered why they weren't letting him have it, but second guessing the ref afterward is a part of sports. I wasn't in the tower so I couldn't say. However, the quote of the night was from Jay Christie.
"so Jay, can you tell us what happened out there?"
"Yeah Thompson turned us...that dick!"

And unfortunately, that melee also put Hooker out for the night too. Bummer.

I do want to say this though: How awesome was it to see Dave Elliott hold off the always-fast Mark Watson to win the feature? That was pretty exciting and just goes to show you that even in Late Model racing, sometimes the nice guys do finish first.

Yeah the Supers kinda got off to a slow start. Just a lot of minor spins and such, but once they weeded out some of the deadwood, they got going pretty well. Ryan Coniam was a rocket last night. I had my money on Liquid Lou Cicconi but he only managed a 4th. As has been said, it looked like it was pretty much single file racing...but they were fast, and loud, and all the things that SuperModifieds are supposed to be....awesome. And with one race now under their belts, tonight's extended feature for those guys should be interesting.

So this was my first night back to the speedway after my surgery, and I have to say it was great to be there. Truth be told, it was really the first time I've been out period since I got home. Just wanted to say thank you for all the well wishes, hugs and handshakes that I got during my extremely limited amount of wandering around. (still no running up and down the hill for me!) It was great to see everyone. However, that was enough for me for one weekend. We got home, I went in the front door, up the stairs, popped some pills and fell into bed, not to wake up till almost noon today. I was hoping to come out to the races tonight too, but the heat the way it is, and the fact that I've only been recovering for 2 weeks....well my body is just telling me to stay home today, and I think I'm going to heed that.

You know, in reading this board, I know that we as race fans sometimes like to bitch and complain a bit about this driver, or that procedure, or something about our sport that could be better. I'm no different. But I have to say there was a few moments leading up to my surgery that I thought I might never see Delaware again. I've come to the conclusion that, no matter what could be better, a night at the races still beats anything else hands down. There's still no place I'd rather be.

Jamie Maudsley has a saying that "racing cures all" and I believe he may be right. So just remember to feel the joy in the total experience.

Hopefully we'll see you all next week.

Welcome back Shadow. Glad to see you on the road to a full recovery. Having had to go through major surgery myself recently all I can tell you is don't let your head tell you that you are more healed than you actually are. Your body may feel good and your ego will try to get you to do things you aren't ready for...I speak from experience. Follow your Doctors orders and don't rush anything.

Also as far as the Supers are concerned, I was glad to see JB back after his accident a few years back and glad that he came back to Delaware.
