i understand that will change the look of your ss class, but why switch to fiberglass???? we run steel bodied cars at sunset, and there is an '09 implala, '09 300c and '09 mustang all steel, and no fiberglass or plastic allowed other then bumper covers, so why do you want 20 camaros and mustangs or whatever late model body you want, so that they all look the same, when you could have 10 or so that arent the same at all and maybe 10 camaros and novas??? it seperates your class yes, but allowing fiberglass will make them all look the same, steel bodies take effort to build and hang so they look right which also makes them different, its just a shame to see such a great class of cars get destroyed by fiberglass junk. go run late models if you want a fiberglass body.... even super late models run aluminum bodies which takes lots of effort, cause they are all hand crafted, most anyway. also how many ss guys repair fiberglass, you know how much fun and itchy is it, compared to steel???? dont make the change, it will make two classes look identical in the fans eyes....
Have been involved with both, you can use up a lot of your time with metal body that other wise would be spent on weekly maintenance. Is your time worth money in the various availability of parts ect the big question. To a point you can make plastic repairs yet a new panel for the cost can be a big time saver.

so if you race plastic or fiberglass you dont have to repair it during the week??? you have to repair fiberglass or plastic as much as steel if not more, unless your car looks like crap.... last i checked you cant hammer fiberglass or plastic, and have tried repairing crappy abc plastic, the right way, like the paint, not much sticks to it. it takes more time to repair fiberglass, then steel and plastic looks like crap once its rubbed once. and parts availability? i can get a steel fender faster then a fiberglass or plastic one anyday, maybe 2 hour wait at most. and we are not allowed plastic or fiberglass at sunset, thank god, cause all our cars look different and also look pretty damn good, most anyway. and yes my time is worth money, i am a body man, i spend lots of time fixing smashed crap, and i much rather fix a piece of steel, then a pile of melted plastic or smashed fiberglass.
😉
I would like to add to my last post. I think everybody will notice that in the automotive service industry that it has become RR ( remove and replace) auto racing seems to be the same trend. The overall cost effectiveness is what this is really all about and there are a lot of factors to it. I think you have to sit back and think about what can keep you in the game before you prejudge new concepts.
Once a few get out there, it will be just fine. For those of you who refuse to move ahead... just have to look at all the deceased tracks across the country. Forward thinking, is the only way to keep something alive. I sincerely believe this is the only way to keep this class going. How many Chargers, 300's new Camaro's you see in the boneyards, or on someone's front lawns for 300 bucks?? We need this chassis.
