To put it a little less diplomatically than John did....past organizations spent WAY too much time "listening to the guys with the money", and tryong to make our divisions something they never should have been allowed to become.

Everyone knows how well that panned out for the modified division, and there's no reason to reheat that can of beans again. The only difference between what happened to the mods and what happened to the trucks, is that in this case, they MIGHT have caught it in time to save it. (And that's a really big "might have" This particular house of cards might be rebuildable)

Numbers may go up again but its hard to say. Now, even though the rule problem might be fixed, now they have a battle with perceptions about the division. And in the meantime the best we can do is throw some other cars into the fray in order to make things more palatable for the folks in the stands.

I happened to be doing a kids birthday party today, and to my surprise when I got there, it was for the child of one of our ex super stock runners. In talking to him, he still has his old nova sitting in the garage and was pondering running it again, likely at Flamboro. I fail to see whay these guys....and there's a few of them, are not invited to run with the trucks. At leasrt some of them would be in the ballpark to run that program and maybe give the trucks a run for their money.

Why not look down the road and introduce some sort of "run whatever you have as long as it has a 602 crate on a stock chassis with a steel body" division?

I dunno, I thought the last truck/v8 race was a little sad, only in that it showed me how for off the path the trucks got. There's no concievable reason tje trucks should have ever gotten that much faster than our best enduro guys.

They have been asked about a "run what you have" type situation. We have a chev truck chassis and a ready to go dodge built engine. We asked "can we put our dodge powertrain in our chev truck and show up for a handful of races this year?" The answer was "absolutely not!" So now, we wait to come up with enough money to get a 602, carb spacer and build a transmission. We will be lucky to make it out for one race this year. Had we been able to bolt in the stuff that we have laying around, we could likely be ready to go within the next week or so. Why wouldn't we be allowed to use what we have? Makes no sense to me. There's no advantage, if anything it's a disadvantage since a dodge engine is much heavier than a chev. No points, we just want to have fun. But I guess what's just one truck? Who's going to notice that?

Why wouldn't you just build a Dodge truck then?

To update everyone, today's Truckenduro was Aweosme! 3-wide action for several laps with competition being a little more competitive and closer together. The 55 was caught up in early chain-reaction wreck that also saw the 77 spin off of turn two. I personally think running Cars with the Trucks is working. It's an entertaining way of helping a fix a problem. Call it amateur but it beats no truck racing at all!

It sounds like because he has a perfectly good chev chassis. He says he just wants to have some fun...why jump through hoops? Personally I wonder at what point was it ever deemed necessary to match the chassis brand with the engine anyway.

And whats the diff? There's a couple SS cars running "ford" bodies. Pretty sure they're still chevs though.

With them now running the V8s with the trucks it seems that run what you brung would be appropriate now. I'll say it again.....in the truck series make the payouts all equal, for now anyways, and make entry fees as low as possible. Bring the trucks that are now on jack stands back to the track. Worry about the rest later. Running the V8s with the trucks is an interesting diversion but is not a long term solution. Perhaps some of the V8 guys will get a taste and want to buy the trucks that are now for sale.
