I'm not sure why the change to full floaters. Takes the class further away from the other tracks.

This will allow you to run in the USA also if you want to go try the Kimmel Street Stock Spectacular you will be able to.

Floaters are safer and less expensive to build from scratch.

I build most of my own stuff including installing my own gears so popping in a mini spool is like pretty easy. The only reason I have never used one is that they are prone to failure. The method of failure is usually they go in too sloppy. Now I say this with experience at smaller tracks where the acceleration and deccelaration is much more pronounced. Most of the guys say don't waist your money just weld it. Could be right, could be wrong, I never tried one. I do think if you have bolt in axles a mini spool is moving backwards, reduce the mass wherever possible

I think FromTheStands point is, reducing the mass doesn't matter if everyone is on the same thing.

Similar to what StreetStocker says. I just wondered why the change to spool. It's expensive, its an advantage if you have the money and are changing a rear end. Its no safer than a mini spool.
Jim, I've always heard that welding the spiders is the way that fails. And not sometimes but always eventually. I 'll say again, I've never heard of a mini spool breaking. And in all the min spools I've used, theres more lash in the rear gear then there is in the proper mini spool.

A mini weighs close to the same as leaving the spiders in and welded, so there would be no advantage.
The only advantage to the full spool (other than a large reduction of unsprung rotating mass) is to the person selling the part.
I just wondered if any one knew of another reason why the change.

I'm one who hates change for the sake of change. If there's an advantage or perception of an advantage to a change in the rules, then everyone has to spend the money to compete and then we're all back on the same page, just shy the money.

DB71, I'd hate to think that changes are being made to allow cars to head to the states or vica-versa. In todays economy, there's teams out there trying to scrape the money together to head to Delaware. That kind of philosophy will only hurt the car count ion the long run. Hope I'm wrong but the message coming out of the small track seminars, is to keep the changes small, inexpensive and the emphasis on safety.

And the brake bias must be with the master cylinder and not adjustable by the driver during competition.

I think this has been a rule for a number of years. Who uses rear brakes anyway.

That would explain the understeer going in !  ;D

This past year, the adjuster could be anywhere and was on the honor system.
