I kind of agree, it looks like it could be the cause of some unwanted "action"
Don't get me wrong, I know we've beat the track surface thing to death and I'm very happy that things are being done to the track and it's facilities, I was just curious to hear if it was as bad as it looks from "the hill"?
DSP forever!
My Dad was talking to one of the race teams, and it sounds like from what they said that the problem is groundwater running down the hill and then under the track surface. Under the pavement there is probably sand or something of that nature, and the groundwater erodes it and causes the pavement to sink in that spot.
The track really could use a repave of course, but the drivers say it is still better than it was the first year ISMA returned. To my eye, while there was a dip in that spot, it was not kicking the Supers sideways as much as it had before they repaved that section.
Thanks for Arlen & Co for making this place a good place to race but yes some of the Supers were bottoming on on the front stretch and some on the back.Could tell this was happening as sparks were shooting out of the bottom of these cars.Talked to an ISMA offcial who said they could not wait to come back next year especially if renovations are done. They said they had heard track would be completly repaved and jersey barriers removed. As they said this track would be wicked fast and could see times
possibly 1 or 2 seconds faster than this year.Times this year were announced from the 15.770 sec to high 16 sec. If this is true if you like fast race cars this would be where to be next year if all renovtions are done.
OUCH! That's the engine!
