Busy busy night tonight.
Challenger Motor Freight Trucks won by the 33 truck of Sid McDonald in a duel with Paul Fothergill (from the sounds of it ::) )
Powerade Modifieds won by, you guessed it, Jamie Cox.
And APC Late Model action saw Dion Verhoeven take the checkers handily, after an early battle with 48-Ramsay. Good duel for 3rd between Stewart and Lindsay. Lindsay prevailed and Stewart fell off. A little while later Sheridan muscled his way past the 20 car and brought Jesse Kennedy with him. Final order was 1st Verhoeven, 2nd Ramsay, 3rd Sheridan, 4th Kennedy, 5th Lindsay.
King of the Hill was pretty huge, but I decided to beat the crowd out tonight. I'd presume that hot yellow Mustang driven by the guy from South Africa (or wherever he's from) probably won it.
Huge Huge crowd tonight. At 7:55 the lineup stretched halfway down to the road. It was pretty amazing.
;D The crowd was amazing Friday night - shades of the "good old days" at Delaware Speedway. There were lineup problems for sure, but it was great to see that kind of turnout. Any guesses on the paid attendance?
Was the $1000 prize for the Throne Kings of the Hill event responsible? It was probably a combination of the prize + the weather + holiday time for lots of fans that produced the crowd. It will be interesting to see if there is a repeat of the turnout the next time King of the Hill returns.
we got there at 7:30 and had to lineup on the far side of the parking lot...i bet 20 people in front of us left...some were calling friends to warn them about the huge lineup and some were telling them not to come because they were leaving...to their gredit the lines moved quik i thought...and we made it in time for the green, but talk about major butting in...there were almost a few people coming to blows out there...thank god for the guy in the clown suit joking with people and handing out stickers, he may have saved a life...lol...sat on the hill for the first time...had the worst hamburg of my life,it was cold in the centre...but the show was great...cox was ahhhsum passing on the outside...the trucks were running 4 wide sometimes...and yes the yellow stang won, but i think his tougest competion was disqualified for passing low the round earler...the announcers were quite funny with all the nicnames for them..."grocery getter", "hercules", "air pressure"...lol...
33 Truck was driven this week by Chad Rijnen
That is the first win for Sid McDonald ever and he has been out there supporting Delaware for 6 years as a competitor and owner so good for him.
The King of the Hill was great a little oil dry for our entertainment.
The concession lines were huge and slow but hey there has not been a crowd like that for years so who knew.
Make you think maybe they should do something like that every couple of weeks great exposure for the other classes and there sponsors.
The racing was really good and hopefully that will bring people back weekly.
I think they may have closed the beer tent a little early however maybe they ran out of beer there were alot of people there.
3 Cox mod put on another clinic.
And the late model race was good
48 Ramsey did a great job friday night in the feature finishing 2nd
Anyway i really hope for the good of the sport that the crowd enjoyed the racing last night and will hopefully return weekly.
A channel had a tv crew there filming the fans and the racing for the news...i havent seen that at a track in awhile
