What you have put forth, is not insulting to anyone J. I don't blame the track for being cautious with their scheduling past Labor Day, Theres no reason, we can't end the points at that date, and continue with some racing after. Again, I would say it would have to go to the county for aproval for next year.

Dont forget about the Western fair, it would seem to me that the same average race attendee 1 - 5 races a year is probably in the same demographic that would attend the fair 1 - 2 times a year. I dont mean to stereotype race fans but im sure that is a reason that delaware used to only run the 1 weekend after the 300 then take a 2 week break during the times the fair is on

Maybe I don't understand what you are saying 100%.

Is what your asking for is, in addition to the 2 practices at the beginning of the year, you would like to see some additional practice sessions scheduled during the year. Correct?

As for "willing to pay" for practice, I think the answer is, Don't we pay any time one of our cars goes on the track?
You want to practice on a Friday Night you pay back gate price.
You want to practice at the beginning of the season you pay back gate price.
You want to practice on an off day/night and rent the track you pay the going rate.

If all you want to do is go practice your car and work on the setup, call the track ask how many cars you can have in a 4/6/8 hour window and when you what rent the track. Ask what the rental rate is.
Then talk to other teams and see if they want to join you. We did this and it cost us $70 a car for 4 hours, that's alot of track time.

I'm not being negative.

Good points DB ;D
What I was considering was there would be a day for cars from all Divisions and say in the neighbourhood of 10 cars in each. Additionaly we could expect too see more cars from other tracks coming to "Test" the waters. This would I'm hoping cover the cost of some track crew and EMS if required. The track has all this in place and they would produce better results organizing this than I could. The track could also enjoy the revenues from the concessions as well as possibly charge a couple of bucks for up top. I dunno just throwing things out there.
I'm fully aware you can rent the track and we have been there forthese days. I'm just trying to consider "Everybody". I for one would be extremely hesitant to try and get 4 or more teams to agree on a date and try to collect money from them for the rental fees. It's just how I feel after having done business with racers for the past few years.
Of course i could be totally out lunch

As a suggestion, I think it would be worth approaching the track with your idea.  From there they could tell you what would be required to make it happen.  You could then poll drivers with a more solid idea to get a real sense whether teams would want to take advantage of it or not.  This could include costs, possible days/times, minimum/maximum car counts, etc which would allow people to make an informed decision.

I agree with DB71 in that we have taken advantage of some rental time and as well on Friday nights when we weren't running.  The nice thing about renting the track is that you really get some good solid time on the track and it gives you a real opportunity to test and tune.  As the cars are limited, you get a significant number of laps by yourself.  Friday nights are a good shakedown if you have had an issue with your car or you want to test a setup that you are thinking about.
