super stocks don't have to run crates, built are an option. anybody that says they need to get away from making the crate an advantage doesn't know what's actually going on in the pits.

Is there anyone running built engines in Super Stock, or have the rules made it impossible to do so and be competitive?

hathaway runs a built when he comes out to play, because they still have their built from the pre-crate era, but that's it. it has nothing to do with rules, more about common sense. why build a motor when it's only $3300 to buy a brand new crate, it's not hard to surpass that $3300 just on machine work, not counting parts or assembly.

I can't understand why guys wouldn't run crates, but what good would it do to turn away the one-two guys who want to burn away their own money?

i don't want to turn this into a crate motor debate--- but who is the crate motor program a "money grab " for ? certainly not the dealers

Any GM Dealer will give you the $3300 price on a crate.
No one is saying go to this dealer or saying they need to be bought from the track.

BTW, Delaware dose have cars that can run with the Thunder Cars.
We call them Enduros.
Now I'm talking the good guys out there like Smith, Book, Goretz, McCullogh. These guys car will line up with the Thunder Car rules and they run dam fast.
Give them a call.
