Dudes...

No secret! As I understand it - the reconditioning is similar to what was done last year when the compound was laid down - - It was commonly known as the "sticky strip", although that is not really the true name for it.

The compound has been sitting in the tech garage getting ready to be laid down for a few weeks. Everyone has seen it. It is not a wholesale reconditioning of the track, just a way of trying to equalize the grooves a bit more in the short term.

Just r-e-l-a-x. It's going to be a fun weekend!

Many teams last year reported a short-term improvement in the upper groove. Although eventually the effects wore off, it still did provide at least some small improvement at the time. Hence, how the conditioning compound has been reapplied heading into this weekend. The weather was good, and what better time to have an upper groove (even a temporary one) then on Labour Day! 😀

As I've discussed in previous posts about the track condition, anything that is done now is meant to temporarily restore some grip into the aging surface. Long term solutions are what is necessary – that is no secret, and they have been discussed in length on this board… ( http://www.cascaronline.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=5297 ) but currently all we have is what we have, so the proactive thing to do it try to work with it! 🙂

I wouldn't say that. Looked to me like a few of the guys were gripping pretty well. The inside groove has the advantage on pretty much any track, traction coating or not...that's just physics.

Besides I'd hardly call 3 lap one-on-one races a real test anyway, and the trucks make it hard to tell. I'm keen to see how the streets and modifieds do tomorrow nite. 😀

Several truck guys commented that there was sincreased grip in the corners but with the rain now here it is important to note that this compound turns to ice when it gets wet I wonder if anything will be left for tomorrow.
