we have been told that our king of the hill was not allowed because of insurance,if you can who is the carrier for the track,if need be you can pm that to me.

You'd have to email them and ask. I'd have no idea on this. I do know though that with the KOTH pulling in the fans the way it has, it'd be a shame to see it all come to a screeching halt because someone got hurt.

Of course, unless they've got a little stockpile of loaner helmets, the KOTH is now only open to those who came to the track already planning on being in it....which is sorta sad. No more talking Mom into taking the minivan down. (that sort of spontaneity is half the fun for me....you can keep your Shoebox and your Hercules.)

But...I still think helmets are probably overdue.

when we were at delaware I couldnt believe guys didnt have one on....you need a bucket at flammy and its a smaller track...infact anyone on the track at anytime should have one on and belts also done up...i've seen a few times after the checkers where the guy has his helmet off still on the track and some idiot he might have cut off or bumped the wrong way (or right way..lol) slams into the back of him...i think flagmen and safety crews on or near the track should have a helmet of some sort too...insurance companies are pretty crazy and just need any excuse not to payoff...i kno at flammy that turn 2 gets pretty dark and if you have dirt or oil on the glass its even harder to see mike delueew trying to get u back in line on re starts.

Happy hour driving school will be on site with a small number of helmets available for rental for those who might be forgetful...  Should be very inexpensive.

After witnessing a very bad crash at Barrie Speedway tonight Aug.25th , I wonder if street cars should even participate without rollcages in the cars ?  This guy hit the wall at a high rate of speed in his black Accura , the car was a complete write off . The guy was strapped onto a stretcher with a neck restraint and had an obviously very broken wrist . It was just hanging down . I heard a guy say he was probably claim his car to be stolen  . The car crashed through a concrete wall and moved about 6 " wide dirt from in behind it and the rear of the car was airborn almost 2 feet in the air . We all know that all Barrie cares about is the all mighty $$$$$$ . Did you know that insurance companies from time to time have a person sent to a track snapping pictures of King of the Hill competitors and on monday those photo's showing licence plates have competitors have there insurance policies cancelled ? Believe me its true and ask Brad if he really cares . I'd think not ! That man could have been easily killed tonight and I don't think the big joke of $200. to win cuts it . I want Brad to lend me the keys for his truck , so I can rub King of the Hill next weekend .

Gotta wear a bucket now...pass it along.

(Probably a good rule BTW.)

Great idea.

Here are some photos from the last KOTH event:
