Eh...A-channel never covered much at Delaware ever. I only recall seeing newsclips on opening night and Labor Day weekend.

Speaking of the Free Press, do they still cover lacrosse and the LPGA, or did those get tossed aside as soon as their respective events were done?

what's sad is how much coverage the incident at Toledo received on many tv stations when Mike Simko kicked out St. Denis' Windshield at the Glass City 200 (even on channel 11 in Hamilton), but no mention, naturally, who won the race!
The Free Press used to be fantastic, in the pre-internet era, with it's Delaware/Cascar coverage. I used to have a friend at our London office send me the clippings in the inter office mail!
Part of the problem might be, since the papers no longer can afford reporters to cover such things, how well are the track p.r. people at submitting timely articles to the papers? Perhaps there aren't anyone at certain tracks even doing that job! In this area, Tim Miller has a racing section in the Hamilton Spec on Thursdays and former Oswego announcer Norris MacDonald does his thing in the Saturday Toronto Star, BUT, the problem is that their articles are in the Wheels-Auto Section of the Paper, not the Sports section!. Most folks I talk to throw out the automotive section if they're not in the market for a new or used car. What really hurts racing is the lack of a weekly or bi-weekly racing newspaper, but perhaps the internet really killed the racing press. With all due respect to Inside Track, results from two months ago just don't cut it. I long for the days when folks were lined up at the neighbourhood newstand to pick up the latest editon of Wheelspin News on Thursdays.
I don't know how well Delaware advertises in the LFP, but I can't remember even a small add for Flamboro in the Hamilton Spectator (They seem to advertise in the Flamboro Gazette which only covers a miniscule area of the Greater Hamilton area). Maybe it's a reciprocal things-you advertise in my paper, then we'll cover your stories. Thank god Gater still publishes weekly in the racing season and Area Auto Racing News is still a great weekly,
but the post office's poor delivery is conspiring against those papers and only the Ontario DIRT tracks seems interested enough to send results to those papers.
Flamboro does advertise on a Hamilton Country western station and possibly one in Cambridge (Dave-FM?), but is radio a waste of money in the Hamilton area with so many radio choices???. Talk to 10 people as to what station they listen to, and you'll probably get 8 different answers. I'm totally baffled why the tracks in this area have abandoned advertising in the daily papers.
I was impressed this Summer while vacationing in Ottawa, that Edelweiss, and even Granby and Cornwall had ads in the Ottawa Sun, and the biggest weekly crowds I saw this year were at Edelweiss and Cornwall!. Coincidence-I think not.
Finally, I still wonder why more race tracks don't advertise in the "entertainment section" of various papers, right up there with the movie ads, as an alternative to going to another bad movie.
The internet has been great but you're preaching to the choir. We've got to do something to get some new blood into this sport we love so much.

Ever notice the "people you know" article is all about people you don't know? Are they cutting back on Jim Cressman's writing?

AS for the "a" channel it should be the "f" channel nothing worth watching on there but I do remember seeing Bevin Palmateer at the track several times a year for the last few years and I didn't spot him at all this year.HMMMMM

You'd be better off getting CKCO to cover Delaware. The only way A-Channel would do it would be if the track moved to Windsor...:)
