So what you have Sid is 2 ignition switches wire in sequence?
The starter button could still be depressed turning over the engine and move the truck by any man women or child correct?
So shouldn't your second switch be on the starter switch?
Don't get me wrong I am all for safety and actually have had a kid turn on the master and crank the engine moving the car before at a show.
I will say its a stupid rule but rules are rules and if it how Sid said it is there most likely no performance advantage but its still illegal.
I'm glad to hear the explanation from team 33 that it was a technical issue and nothing to do with cheating to give them an advantage. It disturbs me to think someone would actually intentionally cheat when the real stakes in these races is pride since the payouts are nice they don't pay the way. I know we all interpret the rules to what we consider compliant to the rules and maybe some of us stretch the line once in a while but that is racing and none of us are driving away from the field.
First of all it was not hooked up to the MSD box.
The Tech guys are doing there job, they check the MSD box by putting in a 3000 chip in it,,,,It did bark at 3000 RPM and they flicked it the other way and it killed the power of the truck!!! they did take are MSD and had it check also and its fine.
Are rules state three types of switches in the center of the truck as we did... but dose not say how many of the three types we can have in total.
We do allot of advents for are sponsors and as you know we run automatics.
If somebody man, woman,or child jumped in and started the truck possible in gear it would take off.
So instead of carrying jackstands and a jack and tools to unhook the battery I put in a kill switch way up under dash OUT OF REACH
We also have a push botton in the fire wall to set valve lash, so is that bad too.
Sid we are all for safety and I do thank you for taking the time to explain this unfortunate situation you have found yourself in!
Looks to me like the rule book is pretty clear on this, and if there was a grey area why in the hell did you hide it out of sight?
3. The only switches allowed are: (a). Master on/off mounted in the centre of the car. (b) Push button start switch. (c) Main power other than master on/off
8. No other electrical devices are allowed anywhere on the vehicle.
It looks to me like they gave you a break with the other switch you have under the hood....
At Varney we had to have an ignition kill swtch on both sides of the car closest to the window as possible. So now you had three switches. The rev box should be wired directly the distributor no external power sources or intermediate switches, I'm sure this would alleviate any misconceptions. 🙂
