I agree Slapdown!!! Let the racing begin and let the best "Person' Win and not worry about the Charter of Rights. Hey the Big & Tall Store discriminates against short skinny people. Discrimination is in this world...unfortunately there is no way around it. Just have to deal with it. And if you don't want the "female" to win a bigger prize purse....then just go out there and beat them if you can!!
This is hilarious!! The only complaint I see here is not based on the Charter of Rights and equality, but on racers who think they are entitled to every dollar the track raises!! Does that mean there should be no rookie award? Does it also apply to the bonus money to the top non-Chevy engine? Or how about the driver with the 6-cylinder engine? Imagine if a female wins the race with a 6-cylinder Ford!! She could pickup an extra 700-dollars!!! The only thing the track is trying to do is entice a few more people to come out and play and maybe diversify the field a little. Looks to me like the track is trying to build the division for beginners. Get over your greed and have some fun!!
If the bonus money to a female who wins the race bothers you, how about a challenge to bars and night clubs who offer lady's nights where the females enter free and the guys pay a cover charge?
I have to agree with Piney in this instance. The payouts should be equal. AND the Charter applies to everything, however I can't see anyone taking this that far.
By the way, Pinecrest, you still haven't responded to the last PM I sent.

No, it does not. The Charter only applies to federal legislation and programs. The Ontario Code of Human Rights would have jurisdiction, however no precedent exists there either for something like this.

Ace and Mobil1fan would both seem to be some what correct while i was some what wrong . The Charter does apply to all laws federal and provincial but this would fall under Ontario Code of Human Rights like Mobil said and is why i said you would appeal it to the Ontario Human Rights Commission . If it was a direct violation of the Charter you would seek a remedy in Federal court. I have amended the topic title to reflect this .
The bottom line is everyone would see it was wrong if a track said they were going to pay women half as much as a man so it should be easy to see that the reverse is just as wrong , we already have laws that deal with pay equity and this is were the violation is .
